Job Description

This position is for a Validation Engineer co-op in the Mobile Systems (MSB) Division in Skyworks Newbury Park, CA design center. Validation Engineer Co-op should have a reasonable understanding of RF design fundamentals, wireless systems, and introductory electromagnetics.  Understanding of design parameters like gain, noise, non-linearity, S-parameters, stability, etc. is required.
Exposure to a lab testing setup and environment including commonly used test equipment like network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, frequency generator, noise figure meter will be useful to perform the required job. The Co-op should have used a design tool like ADS/HFSS/AWR. Use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required to perform job duties successfully.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITY:

• The candidate will work with a mentor and have the following job responsibilities:
• Evaluating RF parameters like S-parameters, Pout, PAE, ACLR, NF, IP3, P1dB etc
• Validation & characterizing performance across supply, temperature & frequency
• Creating compliance matrix against spec, plotting results and presenting results summary


   Software Tools Used:

   STC/PAT -- Internal Software tools    Microsoft Office/Outlook

 
 Hardware Tools Used:

   Network Analyzers    Spectrum Analyzers    Signal Generators    Digital Receivers    Load-Pull/Tuners    RF Probe Stations

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must be actively enrolled in an MSEE university program Must have a career interest in becoming an Engineer in RF/microwave area Coursework in the following areas: Circuits and Electronics, Semiconductor Devices, Analog/Mixed Signal, RF/Microwave Circuits and Systems (preferred), Electromagnetics (preferred) A reasonable understanding of RF design fundamentals, wireless systems, and introductory electromagnetics.  Knowledge of design parameters like gain, noise, non-linearity, S-parameters, stability, etc. is required. Exposure to a lab testing setup and environment including commonly used test equipment like network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, frequency generator, and noise figure meter will be useful to perform the required job. The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
