Job Description

Position Summary:

The Validation and Verification Lab Manager will be responsible for the effective management of laboratory operations, personnel, resources, and compliance with internal standards as regulatory standards. The V&V Manager will be participating in Technology, NPD, and cost & quality projects dedicated to the development of cordless and pneumatic power fastening tools primarily used for wood and concrete applications.

Responsibilities:

Managing Laboratory Operations: Overseeing day-to-day laboratory activities, ensuring smooth functioning of equipment and resources.Staff Supervision: Hiring, training, scheduling, and managing laboratory personnel, including technicians and assistants.Quality Control: Implementing and maintaining quality control measures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.Inventory Management: Monitoring and maintaining laboratory supplies, equipment, and reagents, including ordering, organizing, and managing inventory levels.Safety Compliance: Enforcing safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for laboratory staff and compliance with regulatory guidelines.Budgeting and Financial Management: Developing and managing laboratory budgets, allocating resources effectively, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.Equipment Maintenance: Coordinating preventive maintenance schedules for laboratory equipment and troubleshooting equipment issues as they arise.Data Management: Overseeing data collection, analysis, and interpretation, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.Research and Development Support: Collaborating with researchers and scientists to support ongoing projects, providing technical expertise and guidance as needed.Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of laboratory activities, including experimental procedures, results, and reports, and preparing documentation for internal and external use.Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, such as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and other industry standards.Continuous Improvement: Identifying areas for process improvement and implementing strategies to enhance laboratory efficiency, productivity, and quality.Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Liaising with internal stakeholders (e.g., senior management, research teams, other departments) and external partners (e.g., regulatory agencies, vendors, collaborators) to communicate laboratory capabilities, address concerns, and facilitate collaboration and coordination.Point of contact for the Lake Forest facility after hours

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar position.Advanced understanding of statistical tools such as FRD, DOE, COV, SPC, Gage R&R, Root cause analysis.Experience with the design, analysis and testing of mechanical components or sub-systems (e.g., internal combustion engine, shocks and vibrations stressed systems, injectors, fuels etc.) including conceptual design, testing, validation.Exposure to data acquisition systems like LabView, Access database, High Speed Cam, etc.Demonstrated design capability, critical thinking skills and the ability to understand and troubleshoot electro-mechanical equipment.Strong teamwork, leadership, decision-making, organizational ability, analytic skills, and technical report writing.Exposure to project managementWillingness to travel domestically and internationally 5-10% of the time.

Desired:

Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or electromechanical engineering Strong understanding of system engineering principles and practices
