Job Title: Value Stream Leader I

Reports to: Production Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The role of the Value Stream Leader I is to direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning and organizing Internal Value Streams. Through effective leadership and collaboration, this position ensures product builds meet internal and external standards in cost, quality, and delivery by influencing all associated upstream and downstream order to delivery processes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Leadership and Talent Development

Highly engaged with the Production Planning Team to conduct routing, flow-path, and capacity analysis for optimization.

Leads a team that includes exempt and hourly union labor promoting synergy and cross-functional collaboration

Conducts daily and weekly meetings with team members to set expectations and communicate expectations of daily activities. Create a culture of teamwork among all direct and indirect reports that create and sustains an engaged atmosphere on the production floor by leading and mentoring teams in Lean methodologies Ensure Value Stream cross training to ensure a flexible production flow and ensure problems are addressed on time Collaborates, supports and ensures EHS is fully engaged in maintaining a safe work environment and culture in each Value Stream

Operational Excellence

Manages the assigned internal Value Stream with full accountability for the Profit & Loss deliverables and sustainable performance Creates a current state value stream map of the value stream(s), including strategy and execution for future state. Assesses, analyzes, and continuously improves the Value Stream’s infrastructure (resources, processes, and products) Focuses on Process Quality to improve material and information flows within the value stream Manage and maintain GEMBA walks and continuous improvement boards to ensure the manufacturing team and internal customers always know status of production and continuous improvement initiatives Use audits, quality metrics, PFMEA and productivity numbers to prioritize continuous improvement efforts in the value stream

Compliance

Synergizes with Quality in defining, creating, and formalizing the execution plan for in process product verification Ensures adherence of end to end feedback loop systems for the improvement and consistency of internal or externally manufactured product Guides support staff in the effort to define, create, document, and ensure standard work is performed for the end-to-end Value Stream

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: 1+ years’ related experience

Licenses/Certifications: Ability to obtain and maintain Railroad Certifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BS degree in Engineering or related field
