The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Value Stream Supply Chain Senior Manager. The Value Stream Supply Chain Senior Manager role is the supply chain leader at the manufacturing site, responsible for Planning, Purchasing and Inventory Management of FG, WIP and Raw Materials.  The functional core competencies of this role include lean material flow, inventory controls and analytics, project management, and continuous improvement.  The channels through which this role will execute include the manufacturing value streams, production planning, and tactical purchasing teams at the site and the network planning and global procurement teams remotely.  To increase material availability, accelerate continuous improvement and achieve productivity objectives, the Value Stream Supply Chain Sr. Manager will charter and oversee a portfolio of projects, leveraging direct and indirect resources to achieve our Quality, Service and Cost priorities.

This position is located in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day materials planning, tactical purchasing, and inventory activities across three manufacturing value streams at two sites located two miles apart.

Implement pull systems and visual management where applicable and beneficial.

Set and monitor monthly, weekly, and daily production targets to achieve smooth supply and appropriate demand coverage.

Create and manage production schedules balancing the various needs of the value stream.

Manage short-term and long-term capacity requirements to ensure escalation and action where capacity constraints exist.

Ensure continuous progress in improving material availability and reducing risk of stock-outs while achieving our inventory $ targets.

Set appropriate production and purchasing lot sizes using relevant tools such as ABC analysis, EOQs, and Runner/Repeater/Stranger strategies.

Track, review, and communicate KPIs related to supplier delivery, lead time, cost, and PPV.

Support implementation of ERP improvement activities.

The Individual

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.

7+ years of planning and/or direct material management experience. 

7-10 years of leadership experience in a relevant field.

5+ years of Lean and Continuous Improvement experience specifically with the use of pull systems and visual management.

Working knowledge of MS Office and exposure to the Power BI Platform.

Strong business acumen and problem-solving capabilities, with direct, applied experience in Supply Chain.

Demonstrated ability to link the critical business supply chain, systems, and processes needed to achieve availability and productivity goals.

Knowledge of business systems and information technology for managing complex supply chain activities.

Strong leader with the ability to influence and manage a team with diverse backgrounds and skill sets.  The leader needs the ability to empower and develop talent.

Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure with limited supervision and excellent prioritization.

Well-organized with a high level of attention to detail.

Excellent knowledge of the end-to-end supply chain, with a clarity for understanding the importance and interdependencies associated with each stage of the process — Plan, Source, Make, Deliver.

High levels of personal integrity when conducting the professional affairs of the organization and dealing with sensitive and confidential data relating to risk and cost.

Preferred:

Master’s degree.

SAP experience.

Experience in the Life Sciences or Chemicals manufacturing industry.

Warehousing experience.

Key Interactions

Internal: Leaders of supply chain functions such as distribution, manufacturing, planning, procurement, and our supply base. Leaders of regional marketing, customer services, and business units.

External: Suppliers

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of an office environment.  Up to 75% of time at desk, standing or sitting extended periods of time. No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials (up to 10 lbs.) is required.  Will require domestic and international travel up to 20%.  Ability to travel on short notice.

Salary Transparency

Salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including: education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on that facts and circumstances of each case. Salary range for this position is $94,000 to $159,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time) and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
