Volt is immediately hiring for VAR Operator in South Gate, CA.

\r\n\r\n

As a VAR Operator you will:

\r\n\r\n\r\n\tFollow standard manufacturing and operating procedures. Strong learning aptitude required, 75% of the knowledge required must be learned on the job\r\n\tPerform pre-operative checks prior to and during pump down cycle. Use pre-pump and start-up checklist\r\n\tSet up and operate the equipment furnace(s) as directed for melting to include:\r\n\tInspecting and preparing electrodes for melting\r\n\tBleed water and vacuum system\r\n\tGrinding electrodes, stubs and copper stools\r\n\tClean, paint and maintain crucibles and base plates\r\n\tLoading electrodes\r\n\tOperating water and vacuum systems\r\n\tOperating furnace controls and instrumentation\r\n\tRemelting electrodes\r\n\tCooling, loading, unloading, identifying and weighing ingots\r\n\tMust be able to interpret video monitors, gauges, meters, etc. while operating the VAR furnace(s)\r\n\tMaintain operating records and logs\r\n\tMaintain material and maintenance needed lists\r\n\tPerform leak-up rate tests to determine vacuum integrity\r\n\tClean out furnaces and crucibles during maintenance cycles and replace damaged components.\r\n\tOperate leak detectors\r\n\tUse various hand and power tools as directed\r\n\tPerforms maintenance required to ensure good operating condition of furnace(s) and auxiliary equipment such as electrical, electronic, vacuum, pneumatic and cooling systems.\r\n\tSupport other departments as needed per production demands\r\n\r\n\r\n

This is a full time 2nd Shift opportunity

\r\n\r\n

Hours are 2pm-10:30pm

\r\n\r\n

Monday - Friday, possible Saturday

\r\n\r\n

The ideal candidate will have:

\r\n\r\n\r\n\tMust be mechanically inclined and possess basic math skills.\r\n\tMust be good at following instructions\r\n\tMust be capable of working in a group\r\n\tAbility to lift objects up to 35 pounds\r\n\tAbility to work with heavy rigging, piping. Forklift, crane-operating experience highly preferred.\r\n\tMust be able to think quickly and take action\r\n\tMust be able to wear a respirator.\r\n\tAbility to work in confined spaces.\r\n\tStrong learning aptitude required\r\n\r\n\r\n

Pay Rate: $19.25-$24 per hour

\r\n\r\n

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
