Job Summary:
This role will manage and maintain a high level of compliance for Gateretail on VAT and Excise Duty (ED) and related compliance areas. It includes ownership of the VAT and ED reporting as well as reconciliation process during VAT periods and month end closing. Continuously carrying out quality controls and projects to improve the way VAT compliance is maintained, including system setups for VAT functionality. Supporting the business with compliance issues concerning VAT & ED and formal requirements for establishing and maintaining a presence in new market areas.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage VAT and Excise Duty (ED) compliance/controls framework for Gateretail VAT and ED reporting and reconciliationsHandle VAT and ED related topicsProject management for improved VAT compliance and connected processesMaintaining and developing adequate registering for Gateretail for VAT in 25+ countries and identify and analyze possible new registrations as new contracts or regulations arise Submitting and ensuring payment for VAT returns within strict deadlines each month. Be up to date and proactive on current VAT and ED compliance, regulations and changes to take appropriate initiative and actionIdentifying and implement ways to improve efficiency in VAT compliance work.Identify and mitigate VAT risks in the business set-up / calculate and manage VAT provisions as necessaryBe VAT/ED speaking partner internally/externally for business related VAT/ED questions. Liaising with fiscal representatives, VAT advisors to ensure all VAT compliance is undertaken efficiently both in terms of cost and time.Ensuring calculations and reporting of Intrastat, EC sales list reporting and other country specific tax requirements is in place. This includes liaising with suppliers and other departments in Gateretail to ensure all information is correct and complete. Investigating potential savings that can be made in VAT.VAT analysis to budgets and forecastsLiaison with external auditors regarding statutory audits and potential tax audits in particularSupporting other team members at high pressure/work load times
Qualifications
Education:
University degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Law or related fieldWork Experience:
3+ years of previous accounting and proven European VAT and Excise Duty management experienceTechnical / Language Skills:
