Vector Pest Control Technician

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking an Vector Pest Control Technician for our ISS2 contact supporting our Air Force customer. This position is on Wake Island, located 2,100 miles west from Honolulu, Hawaii.

 

This position is responsible for taking ownership of all site vector/pest control services and coordinates an effective Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.

 

The Vector Pest Control position is located at Wake Island, 2200 miles west of Honolulu, Hawaii. Positions at Wake Island work a rotating schedule of three months on-island and one month time off station.

 

Summary

The Vector Pest Controll Technician oversees assigned aspects of the IPMI program and vector control operations. Key activities include an ongoing evaluation of site conditions (buildings, supplies, surrounding terrain) to identify and mitigate hazards. This position ensures hazardous materials utilized in assigned vector pest control operations are transported, stored, and used in compliance with Company and site requirements.

The incumbent mixes and applies pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides though sprayers. This position dusts and applies chemicals to structures, facilities, and other areas. Apply assorted baits to exterior and interior structure and adjacent areas.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

Must read and understand all associated pesticides labels and MSDS. Must mix and apply all pesticides in accordance with label instructions and federal guidelines. Inspect facilities, solid waste collection areas and open areas for signs of insect or rodent activities. Use appropriate rodent bait and bait stations in accordance with federal guidelines and label instructions. Track and enter all daily activity data into appropriate pesticide forms and the IPMIS data system. Clean and maintain all pesticide applications equipment. Must use and understand all personal protection equipment required during daily pesticide applications. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of common safety practices and protective equipment required during pesticide operations. Ability to work cooperatively and safely with others. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
