About the Opportunity Rate of pay $15.50 per hour Swing and Overnight schedule provides a $2.00 to $3.00 stipend on top of the pay rate listed above. We offer 12-hour shifts. Vehicle Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of any company vehicle. The vehicle operator will respond only to non-emergency requests for service and is responsible for driving the ambulance while an EMT provides medical care. After receiving the call for service, the vehicle operator will respond to the address or location given, using the most efficient route, factoring in traffic and weather conditions. The vehicle operator shall observe all traffic laws or regulations, and operate with due regard while operating any company vehicle. Essential Job Functions + Perform vehicle safety and equipment check + Responds to calls when dispatched + Reads maps and drives an ambulance using the most efficient route permitted by weather and road conditions. Observes all traffic laws or regulations. + Uses appropriate body substance isolation procedures. + Assesses the safety of the scene, gains access to the patient. + Communicates with dispatcher via portable radio and cell phone. + Uses prescribed techniques and equipment to assist an EMT-B with patient care. + Assists with lifting, carrying, and properly loading a patient into the ambulance. + Avoids mishandling patient and undue haste. + Assists in moving patients from the ambulance. + Replaces supplies, properly disposes of medical waste. + Properly cleans contaminated equipment according to established guidelines. + Checks all equipment for future readiness. Maintains ambulance in operable condition. Ensures cleanliness and organization of ambulance, its equipment, and supplies. Determines vehicle readiness by checking operator maintainable fluid, fuel, and air pressure levels. + Maintains familiarity with all specialized equipment. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. + Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and airborne pathogens. Requirements + Must be at least 18 years of age + Take company authorized courses in First Aid, CPR, Blood-borne Pathogens, EVOC/NYS Defensive Driving and HIPAA + Must be capable of traveling outside the County of Franklin as well as the state of NY + Possess a good knowledge of Franklin County and surrounding area and be able to use maps and street guides effectively. + Must be physically able to lift and maneuver patients up to 125 pounds without assistance. (250 pounds with assistance) + Communicate effectively via telephone and radio equipment + Use good judgment and remain calm in high-stress situations + Be unaffected by loud noises and flashing lights + Function efficiently without interruption throughout an entire work shift + Read English language, manuals, and road maps + Accurately discern street signs and addresses Other Skills/Abilities-Preferred pre-hire but will train: + Must be able to perform CPR + Proper lifting and moving techniques + EVOC/NYS Defensive Driving *Additional Salary Detail The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, years of experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
