Vertical Account Executive

Job Purpose:

Our Vertical Account Executive (VAE) is responsible for targeting, acquiring and closing high value revenue opportunities at local and regional based Cold Chain, Pharmaceutical and Healthcare companies. This position requires a “hunter” approach as they will develop relationships with Packaging, Operations and Procurement decision makers at targeted accounts that align with the Veritiv Cold Chain / Healthcare strategy. Once the opportunity is closed and is effectively onboarded, the VAE will hand off management of the relationship to our Sales and Program Management teams.

Job Responsibilities:

● Work for and closely with Veritiv Sales Leadership and Regional Specialists to set strategy, determine target Vertical opportunities, and develop business. overall sales goals/quotas.
● Collaborate with Veritiv Leadership and Regional Specialists to identify opportunities, develop ideas that deliver sales results and sell the Veritiv value proposition.
● Communicate with clients and gather information about a project’s goals, budgets, and outcomes.
● Partner with Regional Sales Professionals and Specialists to close opportunities and turn over all transactional activities ensuring a smooth transition.
● Develop proposals targeted at key customer decision makers that deliver Value to the identified prospect.  
● Maintain a robust pipeline of potential local and regional opportunities at all points in the sales cycle.
● Participate in business reviews and other customer functions as needed.
● Consult with company legal representatives to develop contracts and agreements that protect company interests.
● Performs other related duties as needed.

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:

● Strong technical knowledge of flexible and rigid packaging products for Cold Chain Packaging applications

● Experience in development, implementation, successful execution of plans to generate new business in targeted market segments and prospects
● Experience in selling to accounts within the identified vertical market  
● 7-10 years proven business development and/or packaging experience preferred
● Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
● Customer focused mindset.
● Product and market knowledge.
● Strong negotiation skills.
● Strong financial acumen and analysis.
● Possess a strong drive for results.

Salary range: $130,000 - $150,000 with annual bonus eligibility

Work Experience:

● 5-10 years of related job experience.● Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.● Ability to work quickly and efficiently.● Basic experience of simple office/operational systems.● Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.● Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.● Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.● Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).● Strong planning and organization skills are required.

Education:

● Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Physical Requirements:

● A significant portion of the job responsibilities will require computer work that involves the continuous use of the fingers, hands, wrists, and sitting for long periods of time.

● The position also requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.

● The position requires work in an office as well as travel to customers, suppliers, group meetings, etc.
