Position Overview: Are you dedicated to animal care and excited about working in a dynamic veterinary environment? We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide exceptional care for our animal patients, assist veterinarians with various procedures, and contribute to a supportive and high-quality veterinary practice.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care: Provide hands-on care for animals, including administering medications, performing routine check-ups, and monitoring vital signs. Clinical Assistance: Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostic procedures (e.g., radiographs, blood draws), and surgical procedures. Client Communication: Educate pet owners about their pets' health, treatment plans, and preventive care. Address client questions and concerns with empathy and clarity. Medical Records: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for each patient, including treatment plans, observations, and progress notes. Laboratory Work: Perform and interpret laboratory tests, such as urinalysis, fecals, and ear swabs. Pharmacy Duties: Prepare and dispense medications, ensuring proper labeling and dosage. Monitor medication administration and report any adverse reactions. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all veterinary equipment is properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained in good working condition. Facility Upkeep: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety and sanitation protocols.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician/Assistant is preferred but not required. Skills: Proficient in veterinary clinical skills and procedures. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medical record-keeping and patient care. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Competency in using veterinary software (Avimark) and basic computer applications. Physical capability to handle the demands of the job, including lifting animals and standing for extended periods.
