Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist Abraham's Equine Clinic
We are now interviewing friendly, detailed-orientated individuals to join our Veterinary Practice for the 2025 breeding and foaling season. Our four-doctor equine hospital emphasizes patient care and client satisfaction. This seasonal, part-time position will have the opportunity to float between our front desk and our hospital as they will function in both customer service and veterinary assistant roles.     Job Duties Greets clients in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner. Answers multi-telephone line and disburses callers in a friendly, prompt, and professional manner. Convey messages accurately and appropriately. Retrieves and disburses messages. Communicates information between clients and medical team. Differentiates between routine and emergency cases. Schedules, cancels, reschedules, and confirms hospital and ambulatory appointments in an accurate manner and according to office scheduling procedures. Admits patients according to schedule, collect applicable deposits from clients, and prepare patient charts. Obtains and inputs into charts medical and other information from clients and referring Veterinary clinics. Discharges patients and collect payments for services from clients. Handles routine billing questions as they arise and forwards more complex questions to Practice administration. Cross covers for other service staff as needs arise. Provides our DVM team with support during appointments Patient Care: Perform physical exams, administer medications and therapies under the guidance of the DVM on the case. Handling and Caring for Horses: twitching, jogging, lunging, bandaging, scrubbing for injections, administering vaccines and medications. Feeding and cleaning stalls on an as needed basis. Radiography & Ultrasonography: Equipment setup, taking radio graphs and assisting the DVM team with imaging. Blood and Laboratory Work: processing regenerative therapies, analyzing fecal samples, and preparing blood samples and shipping to various labs for testing. Miscellaneous: driving to appointments, basic administrative tasks such as recording dispensed medications, running various clinic errands.   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Horse Experience. Able to follow directions, take initiative, and remain calm under pressure. Superb time management and attention to detail. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to exercise client confidentiality and exemplary customer service skills. Solid education & foundation in horsemanship and equine anatomy.
