Veterinary Extern - General Practice Champion Wood Animal Hospital
Champion Wood Animal Hospital offers up to a $2000 travel stipend for Clinical Year Externships.

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, we all have some things in common: an environment that is supportive, committed to excellent medicine and provides exceptional service to animals and the people who love them.    Since 1994, Champion Wood Animal Hospital has been dedicated to serving the pets of Spring, TX. We know that your pets are part of your family and strive to provide the highest level of care with every service. Our goal is to help your pets live long, healthy lives.   We are a busy one-doctor hospital. We have a welcoming team who have been with us for years and are always looking to grow so we can offer the best medicine to our patients! Students will work closely with our Medical Director, Lina Hassell who is an A&M graduate with a  passion for teaching and development. Students will gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.     Most externship experiences at Champion Wood Animal Hospital range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships are available for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.   Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
