We have a very positive culture with excellent long-term staff and doctors. Our goal this year is to create a true teaching hospital and we feel we have made great strides in that direction! We work hard, watch out for each other, and have a lot of fun.
Five minutes down the road is the Puget Sound. Enjoy your lunch on the water - it's really beautiful. There is so much to do during your stay! Hiking, boating, bird watching, going to the big city of Seattle for Pike Place Market and so many other activities! Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Evergreen Animal Hospital are designed for final clinical year veterinary students. Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
