The patient transporter/runner plays a vital role within the hospital. Along with helping triaging patients and transporting pets throughout the hospital, there are many other responsibilities along with some administrative duties that come with the position as well. When a job is done well, you are a vital reason why clients feel better on a bad day, why pets receive excellent care, and why doctors can perform at their best.

VCA ASEC continues to be a staple in the community for over 15 years, and growing our team members levels are essential to continue to provide the best care possible.

What this job entails...

Works with team to ensure the clients and patients are supported and cared for. Skills needed will be staff and client relations, communication, high emotional intelligence, and compassion for pets and people. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Transporting pets to and from their owners during their appointments.Triaging patients if a critical emergency presents itself and rush to the ICU if need be.Act as the initial liaison between pet parents and doctors/techs.Keeping track of office supplies and hospital forms and providing the Client Service Manager with an order list.Ensuring exam rooms are kept clean in between exams.Assisting client service team with tasks.Packaging laboratory samples for shipping.Demonstrate quality decision-making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action during initial arrival of pets in crisis.Acquire and maintain excellent listening and communication skills with those around you, including management, doctors, clients, and associates.Attend webinars and other continuing education opportunities to acquire knowledge and new skills.

Requirements:

Previous Experience in medical, dental or veterinary hospital preferredExperience in veterinary medicine, specialty medicine experience a plusCompassion for pets and peopleThrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage under pressureExceptional communication skills requiredHigh emotional intelligenceQuality decision-making skillsComputer Literate

Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The pay range for this position is $ 18 to $ 22 / hour.
