Are you a passionate Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) looking to elevate your career in emergency and critical care? VCA Veterinary Emergency Service is seeking a skilled and dedicated CVT to join our high-energy, collaborative team, providing life-saving care to pets during their most critical moments.

Schedule: Full-time opportunity, 2nd shift hours (either 5p-2a or 2-11p).

Compensation: The starting range for technicians is determined by license, skill set, and years of experience in the field. Financial growth opportunities available. 

Key Responsibilities:

Triage: Perform an initial assessment to evaluate the patient's condition quickly. This includes checking vital signs, assessing for obvious injuries or distress, and gathering information from the pet owner about the situation.

Assist Doctors: Collaborate closely with veterinarians to assist in exams, treatments, and medical procedures for emergency cases.

Venipuncture and IVC Placement: Proficiently perform venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, and grow your advanced vascular access techniques

Medication Administration: Safely and accurately administer fluids, medications, and other treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.

Team Collaboration: Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients receive optimal care. Maintain open communication with the healthcare team.

Nursing Care: Vigilantly monitor hospitalized patients, identifying subtle changes in their clinical status.

Client Education: Provide clear and concise discharge instructions to clients, ensuring they understand the care their furry family member requires after leaving the hospital.

Anesthesia and Sedation Monitoring: Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia to ensure patient safety.

Diagnostic Imaging: Operate diagnostic imaging equipment and assist in capturing radiographs and other diagnostic images.

Laboratory Procedures: Run diagnostics, correlate results with the clinical presentation of the patient and notify Veterinarian of results.
