Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician - VERC, Honolulu Hawaii

Veterinary Emergency + Referral Center of Hawaii (VERC) is an advanced 24-hour veterinary emergency and specialty hospital. Our dedicated board-certified specialists and highly-trained emergency professionals provide a collaborative approach to veterinary medicine. Supported by our modern, state-of-the-art facility, we offer a full in-house laboratory, ultrasonography, CT, MRI, and electrochemotherapy.

Responsibilities: 

Provide extensive client education on Internal Medicine issues including but not limited to disease processes, medication, and triaging phone callsObtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspiratesUtilizing different modalities of imaging for patient assessment including radiograph, ultrasound, endoscopy and CT scanExecuting, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic eventsProvide comfort and nursing care for all patients

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above listed responsibilities satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required. 

Skills and Experience:

General nursing care and treatment of patientsAdministering and monitoring anesthesiaAssisting the veterinarian in proceduresAdmitting and discharging patientsClient communication and education

Educational Requirements:

High School education or equivalentCertification or licensing as a veterinary technician preferred
