Summary: The Veterinary Technician supports veterinarians in providing medical and surgical care for research animals. Schedule: Primarily 0700-1530, with flexibility for research requirements and emergency care. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Assist with animal procedures, anesthesia, and post-operative care Maintain accurate medical records Ensure compliance with laboratory animal care standards Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Animal handling, surgical assistance, anesthetic monitoring, medication administration, medical record keeping Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology or related field At least 1-5 years of experience (varies by level) Must meet all requirements for CS-PRP and BPRP to access ABSL-3 and ABSL-4 containment areas. T3 investigation (NACLC/ANACI is acceptable if completed within 5 years prior to enrollment). A favorably adjudicated SECRET security clearance eligibility, with no access to classified, is required. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years in laboratory animal care experience AALAS certifications preferred The hourly range for this position is $14.00-$26.00.
