Veterinary Technician - Radiation Oncology

VCA Animal Diagnostic Clinic in Dallas is seeking an enthusiastic veterinary technician to join our Radiation Oncology team full time!

Compensation: $22-26/hr

As a Radiation Oncology Veterinary Technician, you will be working closely with our Radiation Oncologist and our Radiation Therapy Technician (RTT) and will be able to demonstrate the following:       

Ability to learn and understand the different types of radiation energies/modalities and appropriate uses for eachDischarge Oncology patients from the hospital, including basic client educationAbility to admit Oncology patients and obtain a thorough history including current medications and dosages, response to treatment and side effects, intensity and durationBe willing/able to assist veterinary technicians in procedures outside of radiation administration, such as CT simulationsAssist in the preparation and delivery of radiation therapy treatmentsMonitor and induce anesthesia plans to patients during radiation therapy sessions and provide post-treatment careFull Technician Skill UtilizationHands Free Radiology (Associate safety a top priority)Calculate drug dosesCollaborate with team members from all hospital servicesProvide compassionate care for all patients and have compassion and empathy towards clientsMaintain accurate medical records and documentation of treatmentsCelebrate when patients finish their radiation therapy!And more!

The successful candidate must have the following required skills/experience:

 LVT preferred, not required Minimum 3 years of veterinary technician/assistant experience Safe restraint of cats and dogs Critical thinking and detail oriented Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong desire to provide exceptional client experience. Possess the ability to multitask, handle stressful and emotional situations Must be able to work well independently and as part of a team Must be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and self-starting with a professional and positive attitude.

Physical Demands:

 Required to stand, walk, and sit. Required to use hands to handle, feel, and manipulate. Required to reach with hands and arms Required to lift and/ or move up to 40 pounds. Requires vision and hearing corrected to normal ranges. Reasonable accommodations to enable disabled individuals to perform essential functions.
