Job Description We are seeking a Wards nursing supervisor to manage a growing staff of Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants. The Wards is a very busy inpatient area providing 24/7 care to a diverse and dynamic patient population. We are looking for a self-motivated CVT with strong communication, organizational and leadership skills to lead our 24/7 team of Wards nurses. The Wards nursing supervisor position is an active, on the floor supervisor role, with some time off the floor for administrative responsibilities. Job responsibilities Floor Responsibilities: + Work alongside nurses to demonstrate clinical judgment, promote real time training and mentorship and provide optimal patient care + Communicate with nursing team to prioritize and organize treatments and tasks to ensure efficient workflow + Work collaboratively with students, nurses, clinicians and Wards Clinical Advisor to communicate patient needs, nursing concerns and provide high quality care for Wards patient population + Provide instruction to Veterinary and Harcum nursing Students Supervisory Responsibilities: + Provide vision and leadership for the Wards Scheduling for 24/7 nursing shifts, holiday schedules + Trouble shoot schedule gaps, call outs-after hours as well + Work with Talent Acquisition Specialist to recruit competent staff to meet operational needs of the Wards. + Work collaboratively with Wards Clinical Nurse Educator and Wards Operations Manager to ensure that newly hired Wards nurses are introduced to Wards workflow and policies + Properly orient staff to their roles, accountabilities and performance measure + Promote positive employee relations and teamwork + Promote career development of your staff + Clearly define work expectations + Address performance issues immediately and directly as well as conduct annual performance appraisals + Collaborate with other supervisors, clinicians and administration to improve patient care and customer service + Collaborate with Wards Clinical Advisor, Ward Operations Manager and Infection Prevention Team to create policies and procedures relating to the operation of the Wards + Collaborate with Wards Operation Manager on equipment needs and repairs + Payroll submission Schedule: + 40 hours-salaried + 4- or 5-day work week + Schedule may be varied, depending on the needs of the Wards + The Wards Nursing Supervisor is considered Essential Personnel and is expected to report to work in inclement weather and during some holidays Salary: Targeted Pay Range: $51,824.00 - $91,232.00 Annual Rate *Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile. *This position is eligible for a sign-on incentive of $1,000.
