Job Description

Purpose & Scope:

The physician is a member of the healthcare team who works in collaboration with other staff to provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients. The physician helps to oversee the Specialty Service Line for their Division with guidance from the Chief of Specialty Service Line.

The Vice Chief of Specialty Service Line supports objectives, budget and performance metrics at Region/Subdivision level.

Directs and coordinates all medical activities within the Region/Subdivision including implementation of quality control standards, risk management and compliance programs.

In absence of a Lead Physician, the Lead responsibilities roll up to the Vice Chief of Specialty Service Line: Supports objectives, budget and performance metrics at Practice level.
Directs and coordinates all medical activities within the Practice including implementation of quality control standards, risk management and compliance programs. Handling clinical issues at practice level- PTO issues, clinical grievances, schedules, etc.

The scope of practice of each physician is defined through the health system’s credentialing and privileging committee. The role of a physician is to provide quality clinical care to those individuals who have chosen VHC Health in a timely manner to meet the needs of our patients.

Education:

Doctorate from an accredited medical school is required.

Experience:

One year of medical/surgical experience is required.

Certification/Licensure:

Licensed to Practice Medicine by the Virginia Department of Health Professions required.
