The VP is responsible and accountable for effective operations of Essentia Health Duluth. The areas include the Behavioral Health, Surgery Operations, Medical Surgical Unit, Observation Unit and Physician Clinics located in the Essentia Health Duluth footprint.
This key executive will partner with the Nursing Team, SVP Hospital Operations and the Physician and Operations Leaders for the services provided in EHD. Responsibilities include defining, aligning, developing and executing the plans for EHD operations, entities and key stakeholders. Further, this person will create an environment of ownership and accountability in all facets of the EHD operations.Education Qualifications:
Masters degree in business, healthcare administration or related field
EXPERIENCE:7-10 years’ experience in a leadership role, preferably in hospital and ambulatory operational activities, including surgical and behavioral health.
Must have demonstrated competencies in leadership, communications, operations and achieving results.
Specifically, it is important the candidate have experience or thorough knowledge in the following areas:

Provide leadership and direction over the day-to-day EHD operations and translation of the business vision and strategy into clear operational goals, objectives and tactics to ensure the necessary organizational support and infrastructure is in place to meet and sustain business objectives.
Participate as a member of the leadership team in developing the overall strategic plans necessary for short- and long-term success. Assess operating business risks and opportunities and identify strategies to mitigate or capitalize as appropriate.
Interact closely with internal management, key physician partners and other stakeholders in the development and implementation of necessary operating systems, policies and procedures.
Develop and foster strong working relationships and communication at all levels of the organization. Foster an environment of collaboration and communication between corporate functional areas and the operations' team to ensure timely implementation of new strategies and coordinate implementation of corrective strategies to resolve problems or situations that may arise.
Ensure that all corporate activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulatory and accrediting bodies and conform to all laws governing business operations. Leads and assists in ensuring the hospitals/health system meets and maintains JCAHO, state license and other accreditation requirements.
Recruit, select and retain highly qualified professionals. Provide the leadership necessary to maintain a motivated, productive and competent team through open communication and delegation of responsibilities authority
Guide and direct leaders in their personal and professional development. Identify individuals for future leadership roles and offer development and exposure to prepare them for increased responsibility.
Serve as a focal point between corporate and regional operations through leadership and a collaborative style. Hold each facility's management team accountable for their individual performance while serving as an advocate for their needs at the regional level.
Enhance systems, processes and business metrics required for tracking the key organizational performance measures needed to meet internal and external financial/growth targets and goals.
In collaboration with the finance team, forecast and monitor revenue, operational and financial performance.
Collaborates in planning and implementation of strategic and operational goals and objectives.Oversees the financial and operational management of assigned areas.Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accrediting bodies for areas of responsibility.Collaborates across the organization to improve efficiency, effectiveness and quality for the organization.Provides leadership and support for institutional committees and projects.Ensures and is responsible for the development of assigned staff.Performs Essentia-wide duties as requested by the designated Essentia leader.Demonstrates the required Leadership Competencies and Traits.
