Global Commercial Services (GCS), and Global Merchant & network Services (GMNS) are core operating groups within American Express and has delivered robust growth over the past decade. GCS serves small, medium and large business clients and helps them manage their cash flows and increase their profitability through a variety of products. GMNS is an acquirer business within American Express and serves merchants, big and small around the globe. The Vice President, Commercial Risk Business Operations will be responsible for executing the next phase of operational excellence and control management for the commercial risk organization. Specifically, this individual will directly support CFR Control Management Team to ensure that the Commercial Ratings and Underwriting (CRU), GMNS and Corporate card risk functions follow the foundational governance structure to ensure day-to-day operational risks are identified, assessed and managed in compliance with enterprise Operational Risk Management programs and reporting. This individual will coordinate key control processes such as PRSA, complaints monitoring, and audit findings to ensure visibility and timely compliance with our control obligations in Credit and Fraud Risk. This role will be required to work cross-functionally with key stakeholders from across the enterprise including CFR Control Management, Technology, CRU, and GMNS to ensure proper control management. **Key Responsibilities:** + Execute plans for Operational Risk Management within Corporate card, GMNS risk and CRU, including specific guidelines, project plans, etc. + Own and manage all commercial risk PRSAs related to CRU, Corporate and GMNS risk (Process Risk Self-Assessment) to ensure they are accurately followed + Own any ad hoc audit or Governance requests of CRU, Corporate and GMNS risk + Identify and execute KRI and CDIT controls to ensure operational risks are managed within agreed thresholds + Establish foundational plans to support operational risk management within Commercial Risk, in accordance with the CFR Control Management Governance policies and regulation + Ensure the systems that commercial risk have in place to track and identify issues are satisfactory within the risk framework established by CFR Control Management Governance + Ensure consistent documentation (e.g. format) across commercial risk + Facilitate the education and understanding of risk management mitigation practices across commercial risk + Be a key leader for sharing insights, better practices, themes, etc. across commercial risk + Establish processes to ensure and monitor the integration of regulatory changes and updates into the Operational Risk Framework and training materials + Provide strategic direction to senior management on process risk issues and mitigation strategies **Minimum Qualifications** + Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities + Positive “roll-up your sleeves” attitude, a proactive mentality, and a passion to win required + Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact and obtain buy-in from senior BU/tech counterparts + Expertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards + Strong internal partner management skills with proven ability to influence & negotiate + Strategic, analytical, problem-solving mindset; ability to problem solve and make decisions or drive to fast resolution + Familiarity and subject matter expertise in Credit and Fraud Risk, GMNS, Underwriting, Operational Excellence, and/or customer centricity + Critical thinker with the ability to continuously evolve Commercial Risk strategy based on data and analytics + Exceptional oral and written communications skills + A dynamic and committed people leader with proven track record of building impactful teams and cultures **Qualifications** Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
