Vice President, Energy (New York or Dallas)
Responsibilities We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Vice President of Energy to lead all aspects of energy procurement, utility partnerships, and renewable energy strategy. This executive will play a key role in securing and managing the power necessary to support our growing data center portfolio, structuring creative energy solutions, and driving collaboration with hyperscale customers to optimize costs and sustainability outcomes. We'll trust you to: Utility Engagement & Power Delivery Develop and execute strategies to secure reliable, scalable, and cost-effective power for current and future data center facilities. Lead negotiations and contracts with utilities for power purchase agreements (PPAs), substation construction agreements and interconnection agreements. Partner with engineering and construction teams to ensure timely and efficient power delivery. Oversee grid interconnection processes and advocate for favorable regulatory outcomes. Renewable Energy Strategy Identify and evaluate opportunities for renewable energy procurement, including solar, wind, and battery storage projects. Structure and negotiate renewable energy deals that align with customer sustainability goals and reduce operational costs. Collaborate with energy developers to structure creative power supply agreements (PPAs, VPPA, etc.) that benefit all parties. Ensure compliance with ESG mandates and contribute to the company’s sustainability goals. Hyperscaler & Customer Collaboration Partner with hyperscale clients to co-develop innovative energy solutions that meet their power and sustainability needs. Structure joint energy procurement agreements or shared infrastructure models that benefit both parties. Negotiate complex energy contracts with hyperscalers, balancing reliability, cost efficiency, and sustainability objectives. Financial & Risk Management Lead energy-related financial modeling and risk assessments. Optimize energy procurement strategies to balance cost, reliability, and environmental impact. Collaborate with finance teams to forecast energy costs and manage energy budget planning. Qualifications 10+ years of experience in energy procurement, utility partnerships, or renewable energy deal-making, ideally within the data center, colocation, or industrial sectors. A proven track record of leading large-scale energy procurement and negotiation of complex utility contracts. Experience structuring renewable energy projects and PPAs. Strong relationships with utilities, renewable energy developers, and hyperscale customers. Expertise in energy market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and grid interconnection processes. Exceptional negotiation, financial modeling, and contract management skills. Bachelor’s degree Compensation The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives and a comprehensive benefits package. Anticipated base salary range: $250,000 - $300,000+ Actual base salary within the anticipated range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and market factors.
