Vice President, Facilities, Construction and Sustainability

POSITION PURPOSE

This position will be based out of our corporate office in Livonia, Michigan.  Successful candidate must be willing to relocate.

The Vice President, Facilities, Construction Services and Sustainability will be accountable for leading, guiding, and directing the Trinity Health enterprise for all national Facilities & Construction Services programs in Trinity Health. (Excludes those facilities under the direction of Trinity Health Real Estate) responsibilities. Enable enterprise level strategy to address internal or external business & regulatory issues; provide functional expertise and ensure fulfillment of national performance and service standards. Responsible for consistent operating performance and achieving financial goals. Identifies, defines & solves complex problems that impact the management & direction of the business; Collaborate with Service Areas, Regions, and Health Ministries to ensure consistency and integration of strategy and operations. Maintaining awareness of new industry developments and standards.  Provides decision support, operations &/or optimization leadership focus. Develops, implements, and monitors programs and practices that support these programs system wide and at the Division/Area and market levels. This position develops and implements national strategies to achieve maximum efficiency and program performance and promotes high customer satisfaction, maximization of program profitability, cost reduction efforts, facilitates the implementation of energy conservation measures, as well as ensuring application of Trinity Health standards related to construction activities. Develops an infrastructure which makes sustainability, decarbonization and the responsible use of energy a key part of business processes and strategic decisions for the Trinity Health System. Develop and meet targets for carbon reductions in Scopes 1 and 2, coordinates with Trinity Health strategic programs for the management of Scope 3. Partner with key stakeholders across Trinity Health about sustainability efforts. This position supervises other manager level employees and promotes individual professional growth for all management and staff members.

Leadership

Providing advice, guidance, and leadership to RHM and Market Leaders in developing strategies and in the achievement of performance goals.

Enable Collaboration across and within SASS area, Regions, and Health Ministries to ensure consistency and integration of strategy and operations.

Enable collaboration across all SASS Area for a robust Sustainability Program that includes Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) parameters that fall within the limits of this program.

Direction and Growth

Providing advice, guidance, and leadership to site functional leaders and site & RHM leadership

Knowledge and Process Mastery standardization/systemness and optimization of standards, process, methodologies, etc. establishing a national community of practice.

Vendor/Contract Labor Management centralizing strategy and optimizing spend.

Sustainability and decarbonization efforts that support Sustainability and ESG goals.

Strategic Support & Accountability

Collaborates in system-wide strategy development and deployment of functional area priorities and initiatives.

Responsible for supporting state and regional efforts to comply with functional area priorities.

Accountable for the selection, evaluation, and overall success of the functional leadership teams within the region and market.

Organization-wide focal point for establishing functional strategies and governance over financials and staffing.

Communication liaison between operational leader and functional leaders

Accountable for Sustainability and decarbonization efforts that support the organizational goals.

Operational Delivery

Reporting and Metrics measuring value delivery.

HRM responsibilities responsible for the colleague experience.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, state & local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of conduct, as well as other policies & procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical & professional behavior.

Ongoing development of national standards for planning, design, and construction (PDC) and regulatory compliance through the Annual Compliance Review (ACR). Development, implementation, and monitoring of a national program for acute care hospitals in newly acquired markets and critical access hospitals.

Provides operational interpretations of codes and standards related to facility management and construction activities, i.e., NFPA, Joint Commission, and building codes.

Play a leadership role in planning and execution related to sustainability and decarbonization efforts across the Trinity Health System and ensure projects consider sustainability and energy efficiency to the greatest extent within project constraints.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree required; Certification in Healthcare Facility Management (CHFM) and/or CHC (Certified Healthcare Constructor) preferred.

Ten (10) years of overall related experience with min seven years of recent experience in planning and implementing service programs in a hospital setting.

Five (5) years’ experience with facility and equipment management programs and multi-site management in a health care environment. 

Five (5) years’ experience with healthcare construction.

Five (5) years’ experience in Sustainability & Decarbonization in healthcare.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work priorities.

Must be able to travel as needed to the various Trinity Health sites.

Must be able to relocate to Livonia, Michigan.
