POSITION PURPOSE
The Vice President, Financial Operations and Budget will be based out of Livonia, MI, or a designated Trinity Health location.
This role will provide executive financial leadership and direction to drive ministry, system office and shared services financial operations financial stewardship. Partners with the Chief Financial Officer to guide the strategic financial direction of Trinity Health, leading the financial operations, decision support and planning functions with a focus on improving the system’s financial performance and key balance sheet indicators and development and achievement of short and long-term financial goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the mission, vision and values of Trinity Health in leadership behaviors, practices and decisions.
Primary accountability for development and consolidation of Annual Plan and forecast including development of short-term and long-term financial targets.
Drives standardization and implementation of best practice financial planning and operations processes.
Monitors performance and leads development and implementation of financial improvement initiatives.
Provides financial leadership and oversight to System Office and Shared Services executive leadership through effective annual and long-term planning, cost controls, operating and capital budget development and implementation of financial plans. Effectively supports the services and resources provided to Ministries.
Implements and maintains cost accounting system and standards.
Develops and supports strategic and financial analytics of complex business cases including service line, capital, M&A and other transactions for executive leadership and governance. Works in collaboration with and provides guidance to executive leadership to address, interpret, resolve, and monitor a broad and diverse range of financial operational and strategic issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A broad-based knowledge of finance, the health care industry, financial and business planning and budgeting which is normally obtained through a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive financial leadership experience.
Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
Must possess a high level of analytical and conceptual ability, strong creativity and the ability to develop and interpret financial statements and reports is necessary.
Must possess a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, an understanding of third-party reimbursement and financial planning analysis and modeling tools is necessary.
Must possess an understanding and ability to handle both formal and informal organizational structures.
Must demonstrate the ability to provide leadership and motivate and influence others to achieve results with and without direct line accountability. High degree of confidence and energy level coupled with leadership initiative and a results-oriented approach to management.
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate in clear, concise terms to management and governance at all levels.
Must be able to operate effectively in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
Must possess a personal presence which is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Trinity Health.

Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work priorities.
Must be able to travel as needed to the various Trinity Health sites.
