Vice President, Financial Resource Optimization

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $126,000.00 and $170,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

This position provides support to senior management and other business stakeholders for the FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis) Team in Finance and Strategic Planning Department, Americas Division (FSPDAD), and under supervision of our Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
 
Scope of responsibility includes, but not limited to process automation, system integration, architecture design, and automation for financial analysis and planning purposes. This role also focuses on providing both business and technical support through measuring, evaluating, and improving financial data analysis, planning, and forecasting processes, managing reporting of our financial results, analyzing key business drivers, and evaluating strategic initiatives. This role will contribute to major areas of the FP&A Team, which includes financial resource optimization, management and regulatory reporting, and coordination with various stakeholders of the organization from Head Office to our bank’s back office, middle office, and front office.

Role Objectives

•    Provide system integration solution for management and regulatory reporting. 
•    Architect and develop a strategic architecture framework for enhancing and streamlining our daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting processes.
•    Establish data and process architecture to support end to end reporting processes and key points of data integration across management reporting, financial reporting, and client reporting.
•    Automate current management reporting through R, Python, VBA or PowerBi.
•    Define and establish processes and governance standards to ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy.
•    Identify and leverage regulatory reporting platform to build more integrated financial resource management reporting, including ROE, NIM, PPNR, etc.
•    Deliver frequent reporting at the aggregate regional level and granular business level to enable business management.
•    Collaborate to develop forecasting processes to enable entity, business, and regional views of both local and global financial resource consumption and constraints.

Qualifications and Skills

•    5+ years of working experience in financial industry in Finance, Risk, or Technology departments. 
•    Strong conceptual knowledge of Business Intelligence, data and process architecture to support end to end reporting processes and key points of data integration across management reporting, financial reporting, and client reporting.
•    Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of support and business partners.
•    Working experience on financial reporting, business analysis, data analysis and/or project management is preferred.
•    Working knowledge of financial services industry (finance, banking, accounting, and business management, etc.)
•    Drive process efficiencies through automation and delivery of data pipelines to enable self-service reporting and analytics
•    Proficient level of programming skills in Python, SQL Scripts, VBA, and/or R.
•    Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, along with ability to quickly learn new programs and applications.
•    Hands on experience on System Integration with Oracle Database, Tableau, and Power BI, etc. 
•    Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or related fields. MBA/CFA/FRM or other professional qualification highly preferred.
