Position Summary:                        

The Vice President, Global Facilities, Real Estate, Security & EHS reports to the Senior Vice President, Global Operations and is responsible for leading and directing the strategic operational and development planning of all Illumina facilities, Real Estate, EHS and Physical Security in support of Illumina’s mission and strategic objectives. The VP provides vision and leadership for all Global Facilities functions within Illumina and collaborates with key leaders across the business to deliver best in class Facilities, Real Estate & EHS solutions. VP drives strategy and execution for identification and execution of operating efficiencies, business continuity and cost saving strategies for facility operations, utilities, sustainability, and LEED. VP defines key measures of success including customer/employee service levels, equipment/facility up time, risk mitigation, optimization of infrastructure, compliance, EH&S and SOX compliance, lost time injury and days away.

This position requires an experienced business leader who has a track record in building effective teams, has demonstrated successful collaboration across a matrixed organization, and possesses a unique blend of process and strategic capability. The candidate will combine intelligence, experience, confidence, humility, and a strong work ethic to build on the group’s solid foundation and create a truly world-class Global Facilities function at Illumina.

Position Responsibilities:

Strategic leader for all real estate transactions and management in collaboration with key internal and external resourcesStrategic leader for all expansion activities including the identification and construction of new major sitesDevelop and drive the optimal financial results from an optimized real estate strategy.Responsible for leading strategic infrastructure plans and operations, and leading the teams that execute the daily operational plans and strategies with a 5 year time horizon pertaining to corporate real estate in our high growth and changing organization.Lead the Facilities, Real Estate, EHS and Physical Security teams to create plans, budgets, and purchases, construction and modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costsLead large scale contract development and negotiation pertaining to Real Estate in collaboration with procurement and legal teams.  Partners with procurement to drive operations contracts, scopes of work, and supplier managementLead the organizational strategy to hire, engage, and develop employees to ensure the effective operations and processes while also anticipating future capabilities and skill needs for future innovationProvide strategic leadership for the overall Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) mission, vision, strategy and annual initiatives for the organizationLead the security personnel team and physical security assets for the organizationDirect the planning, response and recovery operations for emergency situations and disaster recovery and coordinate the development and implementation of associated response plans.Ensure that systems and procedures within the department follow and not limiting to company’s adopted ISO standards and regulations such as MDSAP, ISO13485, and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 requirements.Keeps abreast of new workspace concepts to drive innovation and collaboration and occupational efficiency for world class employee experience.

Position Requirements:

Experience developing and driving global and regional real estate/operations strategies, and delivering infrastructure capabilities and redundancies.Experience leading and managing global teams and projects in region in a fast-paced and high-growth environment.  Ability to build, engage, and sustain a high performing team.Proven ability to manage multi-million dollar projects and budgets.Possess technical, business and financial acumen.  Ability to write, communicate and develop presentations at all levels of the organization.Collaborative, able to integrate and bring together individuals under common goals and accountabilitiesComfortable with dealing with ambiguity and continuing change in a fast paced and growing hi-tech company

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:

Requires Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, Master’s degree preferred  M.B.A. preferred  PE/Engineering license, MB1FM, CPE or CEM certification a plus.15+ years in depth facilities engineering, maintenance and EH&S experience, preferably in a Biotech organization, life sciences or pharmaceutical related industry. Experience leading multiple functions and in global matrix organization10+ years managing corporate real estate portfolios10+ years’ experience leading and managing global teams and projects in a fast-paced and high-growth environmentProven experience in managing expense and capital budgets in excess of $100M annuallyBroad knowledge of all business areas particularly Quality, Operations, Product Development and Commercial sub-function or a function within an operation or site are highly desiredKnowledge and application of environmental, health and safety regulations and familiarity with EHS regulatory agencies’ protocols.

The estimated base salary range for the Vice President, Global Facilities, Real Estate & EHS role based in the United States of America is: $273,400 - $410,000. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
