Client KYC Group “CKG” is set up to support MUFG Bank and Securities business to manager the client KYC for New Business and Periodic assessments thereby enhancing client experience and generating efficiencies. Client KYC Group function for EMEA covers onboarding, Periodic assessments, Quality Controls, Quality Assurance Policy & Training along with AML and Shared services functions including BoW management, Screening etc. This individual will report into and work closely with the Head of Governance and Controls within CKG, deputising as required. The Governance & Control function is responsible for Quality control, Screening, BoW Scheduling, CKG MI, CKG Controls, Issues Management and CKG project oversight. This individual will be responsible for leading the management of controls and issues Management and supporting on strategic projects across CKG. This individual will be a key representative and focal point within CKG working closely with stakeholders across all 3 lines of defence to ensure MUFG understands all associated risks and maintains the highest standards, whilst managing business needs. In depth understanding of KYC regulatory guidance, and risk and controls is therefore essential, in addition to comprehension of business processes. A key aspect of the role is to ensure a strong control environment within CKG with a successful testing or audit rating, effective issues management, whilst maintaining strong stakeholder engagement. **ROLES, SCOPE and REPORTING STRUCTURE** This reports into: + Head Governance & Controls **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** Specifically, you will be accountable and responsible for taking appropriate action with respect to the following key areas: Issue Management + Take responsibility and management of regulatory, audit, self-identified issues within Client KYC team to create and track milestone action plans, run governance and ensure closure by working closely with issue and MAP owners + Liaise with 2nd line Compliance, FCoE, Audit, Risk management functions closely to ensure agreement on scope, deliverables and timelines for issues owned by Client KYC team where applicable. + Support the management team by taking ownership and responsibility for the preparation of materials and documents related to issues management. + Provide solutions and direction and then work alongside stakeholders across the business to implement changes/solutions. Strategic Project Governance + Establish project management cadence for multitude of CKG projects in accordance to global project management methodology + Create Project charter, Terms of reference , define scope and execute governance for assigned projects in scope across UK and EU jurisdictions + Define scope, agree timelines and ensure timely stakeholder communications across key stakeholder group Governance, Risk & Controls + Effectively optimize, manage and mitigate risk within CKG, working with the management, business and internal risk and compliance functions to set processes and procedures as appropriate for MUFG Bank. + Own and drive periodic review of risks identified internally and undertake risk assessments and controls attestations to ensure effective design and testing of controls within Client KYC group + Identify risks and potential control failure opportunities proactively across CKG functions including Screening, MI & Governance, Offboarding etc. to establish compensating controls and ongoing monitoring + Ensure that all significant incidents and control issues within CKG are properly reported and managed in a timely manner. + Responsible for the risk framework and governance model for CKG and provide support to testing being carried out by first line controls, Audit , Compliance etc + Preparation of Project Management & Strategy materials for relevant business meetings in various oversight forums + Preparation of internal/external audits. + Support CKG as required on incident and risk management areas. Leadership + Provide leadership, guide and advise more junior team members, to ensure they are delivering to the desired standard of quality, and receiving appropriate opportunities for growth and development to junior colleagues in relation to specific projects or tasks. + Continuously act as, and demonstrate role model behaviours. + Develop and promote CKG as a centre of excellence, attracting talent from both inside and outside MUFG People and being an Employer of choice + As a line manager, you are accountable for leading and managing the staff within the function to ensure that they: + Understand their responsibilities and duties applicable to their roles; + Comply with the Bank’s policies and procedures and; + Conduct themselves in a way which is commensurate with the Group’s values + You are responsible for setting and reviewing personal objectives for direct reports and accountable to provide support and guidance to the team as necessary to deliver the required results. In particular, you are accountable for: + Ensuring active management of performance, talent development and succession planning. + Continually monitoring staff competency in order to meet the requirements of the regulatory training and competency regime, handling appropriately any grievance or disciplinary issues, liaising with the Human Resources Department where appropriate. + Leading, directing and controlling your team in an effective and efficient manner. + Aligning and consolidating Risk teams which are inclusive and diverse + Finally, you are displaying role model values in line with MUFG values. Relationship with other functions and stakeholders + Responsible for maintaining good working relationships with stakeholders, including business and control / infrastructure teams globally and locally + Managing conflicts of interest/dual hat status (If Applicable). The role holder will have responsibilities for both MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc. **PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS** **Skills and experience:** + Degree level education (ideally in business, accounting, economics or legal) and/or equivalent experience. + Exposure to KYC and Client on boarding functions along with business and product understanding within Corporate, Investment Banking and Securities business within MUFG + Hands on experience in handling projects within Operations and Technology including system implementations covering development, testing , change management etc. + Proven experience of the overall financial management and control of a front office business function, ensuring compliance with corporate governance, legal and regulatory requirements. + Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required. + Sound business and market awareness. + Proactive, ability to multi-task and manage ever changing and often conflicting priorities; + Detail conscious, ensuring reliability at all times, and committed to producing high quality and professional work in a team environment; + Good communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of motivation and initiative. + Strong presentation skills and ability to be persuasive in order to guide and influence resources over which the role has no direct control. + Good financial and business planning capability, including strong inter-divisional negotiation/coordination skill that can be deployed both within the EU, EMEA and with Tokyo Head Office. + An appetite for information and an ability to prioritise and present valuable conclusions and summaries. **Personal requirements:** + Integrity and Responsibility + Balance Risk with Opportunity + Customer Focus + Demonstrate Global Perspective + String commitment and ownership + Professionalism and Teamwork + Drive For Results + Collaborate and Build Partnerships + Communicate Effectively and Professionally + Challenge Ourselves To Grow + Influence and Inspire Others + Lead Change & Seek Continuous Improvement + Think Strategically + Manage and Develop Talent We are open to considering flexible working requests in line with organisational requirements.
