Under the direction of the Managing Director, Institutional Asset Management the incumbent is responsible for contributing substantially to the growth of the institutional business of CIBC Asset Management (CAM) through assumption of the lead sales and business development role in Quebec; in the investment consultant channel, through direct contact and relationship-building with Canada’s defined benefit pension plan sponsors, defined contribution plans, foundations and endowments and other institutional clients.

How you’ll succeed
Initiate contact and develop positive relationships with leading Canadian institutional investors, particularly those with whom CAM has not had close commercial contact in recent years. Actively nurture, extend, and build on existing CAM relationships with major investment consultants, particularly field consultants with personal linkages to Canada’s leading DB plan sponsors and their respective investment personnel
Leverage CAM’s significant intellectual capital, investment research, and Client Portfolio Management, in aid of securing productive, solutions-oriented discussions with core institutional investors as well as building the CAM brand and prestige in the institutional market segment. Plan and participate in the major institutional industry events in Canada, to increase CAM’s Institutional visibility and provide commercially relevant speaking forums for CAM’s Portfolio Managers and Client Portfolio Managers
Lead the process by which new business prospects move through the early stages of inquiry about CAM products to initial and then final presentations, and on to successful commercial engagements, including participation in fee and other final term negotiations. Take a lead on our consultant relations effort in Quebec.
Achieve a working comfort with the basic operations of CAM’s RFP, institutional database, and presentations infrastructure (including the ability to access PMAPS and Sharepoint software, as well as E-Vestment databases, for simple tasks and information pulls). Collaborate in a frequent and on-going manner with the VP, Consultant Relations, to assist in the production of client-sensitive and consultant-responsive RFIs and RFPs.

You’re a certified professional. You have a degree/diploma in Business, Finance and/or Economics.
It’s an asset if you have a CFA. Portfolio Management experience and Business Development leadership is strongly preferred.
