GENERAL SUMMARY

As Vice President, Issue Resolution, you will conduct and manage associate investigations, handle associate leave and disability management, and take on other associate relations tasks, as needed. You will act as the company’s lead EEO investigator on the Issue Resolution team and you will manage leave of absences for a small but mighty Legal team. You will drive critical associate relations issues that are highly sensitive and require building trust and collaboration with the Legal, Operations, People and Issue Resolution teams on matters such as workplace investigations, consultation on challenging associate and manager situations and/or management training. You will manage and conduct robust investigations in a dynamic environment and will appreciate the important role investigations play in supporting our values and culture and will carry out duties with the highest integrity. Additionally, you will have a deep understanding of local, state, and federal leave laws (CA, WA and OR), the process of managing leave and disability accommodations, and the responsibilities of engaging in the interactive process.  You will provide expert advice, leadership, and mentorship to the Operations, People, and the Issue Resolution teams. 


This is a hybrid role based in the Bay Area with the expectation to be in the office at least two days a week.  The primary office location is San Francisco with the possibility of working out of our other Bay Area locations in accordance with business needs.   The role will report to the Associate General Counsel.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS Support associates in navigating the leave of absences and ADA accommodation processes consistent with state and federal law as well as company policies.  Work with clubs, Operations, People and management teams to engage in the interactive process. Track and support associate leaves taken pursuant to law and policy. Identify inefficiencies and develop solutions in the leave and disability management process. Investigate workplace issues/concerns, including complaints of employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other violations of Company policy. Use effective investigation techniques to promptly and thoroughly investigate concerns, including: gathering and analyzing facts, applying relevant policies and practices to reach conclusions, preparing investigation reports and documenting findings in accordance with company practices. Exhibit sound judgment in recommending outcomes for investigations. Prepare, track, and maintain appropriate investigation documentation, including drafting timely, concise and clear investigation reports. Drive timely closure of open cases/concerns. Partner with Operations, People and Legal teams to ensure proper handling and disposition of cases. Work with various business groups, including the People, Operations and the Legal teams on employee management training.  Manage employee data and statements in a highly confidential manner. Partner cross functionally on investigations, discipline, performance management, and other aspects of employee relations. Coach, counsel, and educate employees on workplace policies, performance management, processes, programs, position eliminations, and strategies. Analyze case activity and determine trends/recommendations for proactive actions. Foster an effective, inclusive work environment/culture and relationships, balancing associate advocacy with stewardship of company goals and values. Provide leadership and guidance within the Issue Resolution function. Conducts associate surveys as needed. Surveys may include staff interviews and data analysis. Cooperate with outside counsel and provide any information needed for investigations, claims and/or lawsuits. Responsible for file maintenance in adherence with the company’s document retention process. Ensure compliance with all state and federal discrimination and employment regulations. Perform any additional associate relations tasks, as needed. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Flexibility in work schedule, as job may require day and evening shifts, weekends and holidays.
