Vice President, Operations
The Vice-President, Operations will ensure that all branch locations within the region assigned operates safely, attains profitability objectives and conducts business consistent with all company goals and philosophies. Oversee all operational, administrative, compliance and sales activities within the region to accomplish established objectives. Provide leadership and guidance to branch managers and Directors to ensure the effectiveness of the management staff. Promote a positive employee/employer relationship that creates and promotes a positive work environment of consistency, fairness, and equity for all employees. Ensure that all business affairs are conducted ethically and in a way that protects the company’s image and reputation. Lead the regional financial reviews, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.



 

Essential Functions:

Oversee each branch or operation in preparing an annual business plan which can be effectively implemented by local management to achieve desired branch, Region, Area and Corporate results including:Safety goals and standardsCost of operationsCapital requirementsProductivity standardsDesired profit marginsGrowth objectivesPerformance goalsConsolidate branch plans as needed for forecasting or performance review.Utilize knowledge of environmental services to achieve low cost and competitive disposal.Allocate capital and resources within the region to accomplish both profit and growth objectives.Review all compensation and incentive plans within region and recommend and approve changes to key management compensation.Working with the sales group to implement pricing policies and act as pricing authority for the region or operating line of business.Direct and coordinate growth and expansion through:Optimized operational delivery and customer serviceEffective pricing strategiesBids and tendersStrategic and Accretive AcquisitionsNew projects and servicesPromote and sustain the company's high standards, sound principles and its positive image.Routinely review operating results and recommended changes with Executive Management.Periodically review branch financial results with local management and develop a comprehensive action plan to correct unacceptable trends or results.Ensure that each branch or location has adequate and trained management and staff to accomplish and exceed all branch, region and corporate desired results.Conform in all respects with applicable federal, provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from Executive Management.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by Executive management.

Education, Training, Experience Requirements:

BA, BS or B. Comm equivalent Degree.Seven (7) or more years’ experience within the Ontario Environmental Services industry or equivalent serving in a regional management capacity or higher.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proven excellent leadership, communication and listening skills.Capable of quickly establishing credibility, influencing constituencies and persuading professionals at all levels.Proficiency in anticipating and managing conflict; mediation of disputes and reaching consensus.Must be a self-motivated contributing team leader.Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and produce deliverables of the expected quality, quality and time frame for execution.Proven track record in strategic thinking as well as implementation of complex initiatives.Manage designated financial, human and physical resources of the Region in a collaborative manner.Experience and knowledge in operation of waste transport, transfer, receiving and processingExperience and knowledge in Industrial Cleaning and Emergency/Spill Response operations.Proficient understanding of Regulations impacting the various sites and operations, ensuring completion of regulatory reporting on time.  Experience dealing with the MECP, MOL, MTO is an asset.   Proven record in management of Environmental Services branches/regions in a safe and efficient mannerStrong profit center management experience and have a solid track record in achieving positive results.Ability to travel frequently within assigned region and other travels as required.
