Responsible for providing legal counsel and guidance to the Company’s executives, professionals and other employees across different functions relating to the Company’s business activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide in-house legal counsel on labor, employment and benefits matters, which may include, but not limited to, human resources issues, wage and hour laws, workers’ compensation, unemployment and other state agency claims in multiple states, labor relations, employee benefits, employment agreements and policy related issues, FMLA matters, employment related litigation, grievances and arbitrations and generally assists the Human Resources team. • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of employment contracts and benefits documents. • Assist, supervise and/or conduct of internal investigations relating to labor, employment and benefits matters. • Oversees various complex litigation through all phases, including personally handling early resolution negotiations, coordinating discovery and providing strategic direction to and close supervision of outside counsel. • Manage all aspects of our e-litigation/matter management system, contract automation tool, compiling records and responsive information to subpoenas and other discovery, managing and developing processes for our records database and ensuring compliance with reporting and litigation hold obligations. • Assists Human Resources team develop and implement processes, procedures, and systems to promote risk avoidance and prevent litigation. • Coordinates with outside counsel to assure they represent the Company’s best interest. • Provides legal counsel and guidance to the Company’s executives, professionals and other employees relating to the Company’s business activities. • Identifies and analyzes legal issues with an understanding of how to appropriately balance risk and the Company’s ability to pursue its business interests. • Develops and conducts legal trainings on various legal topics relevant to labor, employment and benefits matters. • Responds promptly to business team members while delivering efficient and high-quality legal service. • Works on a wide range of projects and with those at various levels within the organization.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs):
• Juris Doctorate (JD) from ABA accredited university, membership in good standing of state bar. • 10+ years legal experience with an emphasis in labor, employment and benefits law with a corporate legal department or a nationally recognized law firm. • Excellent organization, prioritization and multitasking skills, practical and effective problem-solving skills, strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment, commercially focused legal advice and appropriately consider risks to the Company. • Exceptional attention to detail is also critical for this role. • Candidate must be able to interact effectively and collaboratively with the Company’s executives, professionals, staff and other employees, as well as with legal colleagues within the same department and globally, and outside counsel. • Works well independently and within a team environment, both in person and virtually. • Well-developed level of business experience supporting clients or advising on specialty law matters. • Experience in counseling clients on labor, employment and benefits matters, required. • Experience in managing complex litigation, required. • Experience with healthcare laws and regulations, preferred.
