Vice President, Talent & Organizational Development

Role Overview

As the Vice President (VP) of Talent & Culture, you will lead a Center of Expertise (COE) that includes Candidate Experience, Talent Management, Talent Development, Culture and Equity, Inclusion & Diversity (EI&D). This team is responsible for co-creating strategies for VCA for each of these departments as well as designing and executing programs, processes and tools in collaboration with numerous teams including stakeholders from Mars Veterinary Health (MVH), our Field Operations, other Support Functions and People & Organization partners.

Reporting to the VCA People & Organization (P&O) Vice President / CHRO you will be a key member of the VCA P&O Leadership Team, contributing to the development of the People Strategy and five years’ roadmap to deliver on VCA’s Business Strategy. 

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and talented individual with a positive track record of HR leadership in a complex organization getting things done through high collaboration, relationships, and stakeholder management. This influential leader will possess a bold, insightful perspective on talent and culture strategies and trends to shape the future of our workforce. Further, to be successful in this role, you must provide hands-on leadership, and you must be able to work both operationally (zoom in) and strategically (zoom out), quickly identify what’s needed, proactively define pragmatic solutions that are fit for the Veterinary profession and our culture and mobilize teams to make it happen.  You must have demonstrated experience using an entrepreneurial and start-up mind-set with the ability to be comfortable managing ambiguity, fast-paced change and thrive in creating things from scratch.  with limited resources. Therefore, experience in motivating teams, supporting changes in priorities and affinity for championing change management will be instrumental to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

Build a high performing Talent & Culture team by attracting and recruiting top talent, developing and motivating the team, delegating effectively, celebrating diversity within the team, and managing performance.

Evolve the Talent & Culture team from silo departments to a cohesive team that defines and executes the vision of a holistic Candidate and Associate Experience at VCA enable by VCA’s Employer Value Proposition.

Oversee the design and deployment of programs to improve Associate Experience, including process management and change management: Talent (Performance Development Program, Management Development Review, Talent Development Review etc.), Culture (Mars Associate Survey) EI&D (MVH and VCA Strategy), Candidate Experience (Hiring & onboarding).

Co-create with P&O Business Partners and other P&O teams to define the right solutions, tools and change management approach to bring the agenda to life in a meaningful and adequate way for Support office and Field Operations.

Educate Field Leaders and Associates on their roles and responsibilities to drive and embed a culture of development, engagement, leadership excellence, and inclusion. 

Hire, onboard, develop, engage, manage performance and retain members of the P&O Center of Expertise team and coach direct reports to do so with their own teams.

Engage VCA SLT members to co-create solutions, leverage them as role models and support the execution of signature processes

Partner closely with Mars Vet Health and Mars teams on relevant agendas and initiatives (EI&D, Talent, Culture, etc)

Contributes to the development of the People Strategy to deliver VCA business strategy. Partners with the P&O LT to foster a high performing leadership team and to deliver P&O programs to increase the connectivity and engagement of teams and Associates 

Analyzing data with relevant tools and available systems to generate insights and influence decision making.

Fulfill other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred. Certification from HRCI or SHRM is preferred.

Experience: 15+ years of experience in Talent, Culture and Human Resources Generalist/Business Partner roles, or related with business experience showing increasing responsibility and progression. Experience in Human Resources in multi-unit services environment is preferred. Experience in Talent Management or other related COE experience is preferred.

Additional Information

Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $240,000-$280,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
