The Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer oversees Cleveland Clinic’s robust, mature and high-performing cybersecurity program. This highly connected and visible executive will refine and drive the organization’s cybersecurity strategy, integrating innovative solutions to protect and elevate Cleveland Clinic’s global digital footprint. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this role carries significant visibility and influence, requiring a dynamic balance of strategic vision, operational execution and emotional intelligence.

While this role accommodates remote work, candidates must have the ability to travel to Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus and other locations, as needed. 

  

A caregiver who excels in this role, will: 

Execute a visionary cybersecurity strategy that aligns with Cleveland Clinic’s enterprise goals & care priorities. 

Lead with an understanding of industry benchmarks and emerging threats, leveraging Cleveland Clinic’s reputation and scale to set industry standards. 

Ensure the cybersecurity program remains a high-functioning asset with proven results. 

Address evolving third-party risks, AI-driven vulnerabilities and emerging attack vectors with agility and precision. 

Leverage existing systems to continuously optimize performance and resilience. 

Foster trust through strong partnerships with clinical and operational teams, including Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Audit and clinical leaders to develop and implement best practices in cybersecurity. 

Work closely with senior executives, including the CEO and Board of Directors, ensuring alignment and effective communication. 

Represent Cleveland Clinic in industry and governmental discussions to shape the future of healthcare cybersecurity. 

Cultivate a culture of collaboration and shared purpose within a digitally advanced, cross-functional team. 

Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members, ensuring sustained operational and strategic success. 

  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field 

Security certification (e.g., Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified in Healthcare Security (CHS) and/or other security certifications) 

ITIL Foundations certification required within six months of position start date 

10 years of experience with information technology, with at least five years in a leadership role 

Extensive experience in healthcare information security, with a proven track record of leading large-scale technology projects and managing teams 

  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: 

MBA or master’s degree in technology or business field 

Proven expertise in cybersecurity leadership within large, complex organizations, ideally within healthcare or similarly regulated industries 

Demonstrated ability to design and implement robust cybersecurity programs that deliver measurable results 

Strong technical acumen, combined with exceptional strategic, operational and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements:
