Overview This position is one of the UF Health Shands Executive Management team positions. The Vice President for Nursing and Patient Services/ Chief Nursing Office (VP/CNO) maintains the authority and accountability for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing and patient care delivery for all areas where nursing is practiced. The VP/CNO establishes the strategic philosophy of clinical care emphasizing the holistic, patient and family-centered approach to evidence-based care, coordination of care across the continuum, inter-professional collaboration and intra-disciplinary teamwork. This position provides oversight for the development of structures and processes necessary in a professional practice environment to recruit, retain, develop and advance qualified nursing personnel. The VP/CNO acts as the nursing and patient care advocate in the strategic planning processes for the UF Health system, keeping the leadership current with emerging nursing and patient care issues. This position functions as a UF Health Shands representative to the Colleges of Nursing, and to local, state, and national health care forums. The VP/CNO is financially accountable for the Department of Nursing and Patient Services. The VP/CNO provides leadership to achieve the organization�s mission of excellent patient care and nursing�s vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Master's degree in nursing or health related field is required. DNP preferred. Specialty certification required. At least 5 years' experience in nursing management in a tertiary care facility. Leadership in national/local nursing organizations, clear understanding of professional nursing practice, nursing and operations hospital finance. Interpersonal skills to build coalitions and integrate nursing into the healthcare delivery system is highly desirable.
