VICE PRESIDENT FINANCE

Job Summary/Overall Objectives

Business partner of Hospital President. Needs to identify, pursue and capture opportunities that drive economic value for the hospital.

Essential Job Responsibilities

· Supports North Division President through analysis of financial and operational data and develops and assists with implementation of improvement plans.

· Works collaboratively with Business Intelligence on business plans and service line analyses, utilizing standard System formats.

· Meets regularly with department heads to review actual vs. budget performance and develops corrective action plans where appropriate.

· Reviews monthly financial statements at departmental level for opportunities. Investigates variances and creates action plans to address.

· Maintains working knowledge of existing managed care contracts for purposes of understanding and maximizing growth opportunities and business plans.

· Meets regularly with supply chain team to develop opportunities list and related action plans.

· Meets regularly with revenue cycle team to understand root cause of denials caused by operational staff and opportunities for missing charges and develops plans to address.

· Takes lead in development and review of annual operating and capital budgets in accordance with Systemwide instructions (must follow System approach). Surveys key leaders and physicians throughout the year to identify capital needs.

· Participates in governance of joint ventures as assigned by North Division President.

· Meets periodically with key physician leaders along with North Division President to identify opportunities and threats.

· Collaborates with physician organization and business intelligence on downstream implications of physician organization investments.

· Supports financial needs of new family practice residency at Butler.

· Attends monthly real estate meetings for North Division and collaborates with System real estate team on identifying and addressing opportunities for efficiencies.

· Monitors and participates in hospital quality programs with managed care organizations to maximize incentive payouts.

· Other duties as assigned.

 

Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]

Required Qualifications/Experience

· Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field and five (5) years of finance experience.

· Eight plus (8+) years supervisory/management experience in [functional area].

· Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of functional area.

· Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

 

Preferred Qualifications/Experience·

Master’s degree in finance preferred.

· Experience in Healthcare setting.

 

License, Certification & Clearances

· CPA referred.

· Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

· Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).

· Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
