Vice President - Financial Reporting

Primary Function

The VP Financial Reporting is responsible for coordinating a wide variety of financial accounting and regulatory reporting, including various reporting requirements of the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”), Financial Accounting Standard Board (“FASB”) and other regulatory oversight authorities as well as internal management reporting. Responsible for understanding and staying up to date with all applicable accounting and financial reporting rules and regulations issued by the SEC, FASB, and oversight authorities.

Principal Duties

Responsible for the timely preparation of SEC financial reporting and disclosure requirements including, but not limited to, Forms 10-K and 10-Q and related earnings call supplements and investor decks.

Responsible for the preparation of internal monthly financial reports and related analysis.

Responsible for coordination with external auditors, executives, legal and investor relations for the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports.

Responsible for ad hoc reporting and analysis.

Responsible for coordinating management's assessment of the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and compliance with the Company's SOX program.

Ensures that the Company's accounting policies and procedures are in compliance with accounting principles generally accepted within the United States of America.

Assures proper reporting for the adoption of new accounting standards.

Monitors the Company's financial reporting and data processing systems to ensure compliance with all areas of financial reporting.

Participates in Senior Management decisions, particularly those directly related to the accounting for, and financial reporting of, transactions.

Oversight of various aspects of internal and external audit exams, particularly those areas concerning financial accounting and reporting.

Participates in evaluating strategic initiatives and projects including, but not limited to, acquisitions and IT infrastructure and platforms.

Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions.

Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience Requirements  

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.

Licensed Certified Public Accounting required.

Minimum of fifteen (15) years of work experience in accounting or reporting function required; with a preference for experience in mortgage banking and/or with a public accounting firm.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements  

Background in SEC financial accounting, GAAP requirements and internal controls.

High level of analytical and communication skills, including ability to summarize and communicate technical information to CFO, CEO, and others in oral and written form.

Familiarity with various technology platforms and databases used for accounting and financial reporting, including networking and security.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret accounting, financial reporting and regulatory reporting rules and regulations.

Ability to perform complex financial analysis.

Advanced skills in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Ability to demonstrate initiative and creativity, and effective interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Skill as a strategic thinker with the ability to identify problems and challenges, assess potential solutions, and draw sound conclusions while acquiring buy-in from key stakeholders.

Ability to multi-task and work well with exacting deadlines.

Ability to work and communicate effectively, including the strong interpretive and comprehension skills required to understand and communicate alternative solutions round the selection of applications and implementation strategies.

Ability to mentor and develop staff.

Skill in function/process design, implementation, and change management.
