The Vice President for Hospitality and Event Services is responsible for leading, planning, and executing high-profile events and hospitality programs that enhance the university’s reputation, engage alumni, foster relationships with donors, and support recruitment efforts. This role oversees event strategy, budget management, hospitality initiatives, and collaborates with colleges and departments across Belmont. The VP ensures all events are executed professionally, align with Belmont values, and achieve strategic goals.
The Vice President for Hospitality and Event Services works closely with the EVP for Financial Excellence to provide strategic vision and leadership to the Offices of Strategic Venues and Event Services. Working to seamlessly connect internal and external university operations for the high-levels of hospitality on the campus of Belmont University, this role is responsible for overseeing events, facilities and venues strategies, strategic revenues, budget management, and hospitality initiatives while collaborating with colleges and departments across Belmont to ensure both internal and external facing operations creating healthy synergies for the university’s aspirational aim.
The key responsibility for the VP is to carry out the vision of Belmont’s facilities, strategic revenue centers, and events to ensure Belmont is moving toward it’s aspirational aim through professional execution, alignment with Belmont values, and achieving strategic goals.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a strategic plan for university-wide events and hospitality programs that align with institutional goals.Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure events support advancement, admissions, alumni relations, and community engagement objectives.Drive innovation in event design, incorporating current trends and technology to enhance participant experience and college visibility.Assess, build, and provide continuous improvement to a one-stop shop for event services that distinctly incorporates Belmont’s academic programs, world-class venues, and aspirational aim that sets the bar for excellence in strategic university venues, operations, and opportunities for global impact.Ensure strong planning and execution of high-profile events such as commencement ceremonies, homecoming, donor events, and recruitment activities. Ensure strong coordination with external partners to plan, coordinate and execute high quality events that meet partner’s expectations and generates revenue for university.Oversee event logistics, including venue selection, budgeting, vendor management, risk assessment, and compliance with campus policies.Ensure all events reflect university branding, messaging, and standards, creating a positive experience for attendees and stakeholders and working with university marketing and communications as needed.Ensure high standards of customer service, accommodation, and communication among internal and external stakeholders.Foster a culture of hospitality that enhances relationships with all guests, strengthening connections and enhancing the university’s reputation.Lead, mentor, and develop a team responsible for event coordination, hospitality, and guest services. Establish performance goals, manage resources, and provide professional development opportunities for the team, including management of the AchieveIt platform.Promote a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, initiative, and professional growth.Develop and manage budgets for events, venue utilization/optimization and hospitality initiatives, ensuring cost-effective spending revenue generation, and maximum impact. Collaborate with the finance team to manage contracts, vendor payments, and financial reporting. Identify and pursue cost-saving measures without compromising event quality.Set and administer competitive pricing for ticketed events, facilities rentals, and event amenities.Foster relationships with university leadership, faculty, alumni, donors, and community partners to advance event and hospitality goals.Coordinate with leaders in university departments whose work is integral to the overall hospitality and the work of venues and special event services.Partner with departments such as marketing, facilities, and security to ensure smooth and successful event execution.Serve as a liaison with external and internal partners, including venues, catering services, and local authorities.The above statements describe the job’s essential responsibilities and requirements.
