Vice President of Human Resources, Short Term Acute Care Hospitals

The Vice President of Human Resources over Short Term Acute Care Hospitals will report to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources. This role is responsible for supporting all human resources functions at the short term acute care hospitals that are owned, leased, and managed and providing consultative services to those with a strategic advisory relationship with CHC.

Major Responsibilities
+ Formulates and recommends Human Resources policies and objectives for the STACHs and the entire company.
+ Works closely with HR leadership at all owned and managed STACHs and consults with those at the strategic advisory relationships
+ Assists these hospitals with employee relations, leave management, HR/payroll functions, policy development, compensation and benefits issues.
+ Supports SVP of HR in design and direction of HR-related due diligence, start-up and expansion initiatives, including all initial recruitment efforts.
+ Collaborate with SVP of HR in guidance and operations of all HR functional areas for corporate and STACH facilities.
+ Protects interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
+ Approves recommendations for terminations at STACHs.
+ Interviews executive-level candidates.
+ Establishes in-house management training programs that address company needs across division lines (e.g., NMO, Performance Appraisal, Interviewing).
+ Oversees implementation of programs through Human Resources staff.
+ Monitors administration to standards. Identifies opportunities and resolves discrepancies.
+ Conducts a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep top management informed of new developments.
+ Directs the preparation and maintenance of such reports as are necessary to carry out functions of the department.
+ Supports the SVP of HR in employee relations at the corporate office.
+ Supports the SVP of HR in the deployment of benefits plans and rewards/recognition programs to the STACHs.
+ Advises management and employees on appropriate resolution of employee relations issues in accordance with hospital policy and all applicable laws/regulations. Coaches managers on handling behavior/performance problems. Ensures that proper and complete documentation of counselings are prepared, maintained and handled confidentially.
+ Works with CHC executives and hospital executives on incentive plans and payouts. Manages hospital Board compensation committee process and materials.
+ Manages performance evaluation process for hospital executives.
+ Directs and manages ongoing development and implementation of activities to promote retention and recognition of staff. Seeks input from management and employees on effectiveness of activities. Manages annual employee satisfaction survey process. Develops and carries out action plans from survey results.
+ Works with corporate on setting up payroll, timekeeping and benefits administration as required.
+ Keeps current on federal and state employment regulations and labor law, JCAHO and other regulatory requirements related to Human Resources.
+ Supports the mission, vision and values of CHC.
Requirements
Education and Experience
+ Requires a BS or BA in Human Resources Management or Industrial Relations or equivalent in education and work experience
+ Generalist background with broad knowledge of employment, compensation, organizational planning, employee relations, and training and development. From eight (8) to ten (10) years' experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Human Resources
+ Management experience required
+ PHR or SPHR preferred
+ Must have valid Texas drivers license and safe driving record
+ Travel 40-60% of the time

+ Proficient knowledge to understand and apply human resources best practices, concepts and terminology unique to the healthcare industry
