Description
The Vice President of IT is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the company’s information technology operations. This role involves developing and executing IT strategies that support the organization’s goals, ensuring the reliability and security of IT systems, and driving technological innovation. The VP of IT will lead a team of IT professionals, manage the IT budget, and work closely with other senior leaders to integrate technology solutions that enhance business performance.
**Strategic Planning and Leadership:**
+ Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with the organization's financial and operational objectives.
+ Provide leadership and guidance to the IT team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
+ Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, and identify opportunities for innovations.
+ Lead IT projects and initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
**IT Operations Management:**
+ Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of IT systems.
+ Manage the IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and software applications.
+ Ensure that IT services meet or exceed business expectations for performance, availability, and support.
**Digital Transformation and Innovation:**
+ Drive digital transformation initiatives to enhance business processes and customer experiences.
+ Identify and implement innovative technology solutions that create competitive advantages.
+ Collaborate with other departments to integrate technology into business operations.
**Project Management:**
+ Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
+ Establish and maintain project management best practices, including the use of agile methodologies where appropriate.
+ Monitor project progress and report on key milestones and outcomes to senior leadership.
**Infrastructure and Security Management:**
+ Oversee the design, deployment, and management of IT infrastructure to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
+ Develop and implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategies to protect the company’s data and IT assets.
+ Identify and mitigate IT-related risks, including data breaches, system failures, and cyber threats.
+ Ensure the organization's cybersecurity measures are robust and up-to-date, safeguarding data and IT assets against threats.
**Business Systems Management:**
+ Lead the implementation and optimization of business systems and applications to improve efficiency and support business processes.
+ Collaborate with other departments to identify technology needs and ensure that business systems meet organizational requirements.
**Technical Support Management:**
+ Ensure effective technical support services for all users, addressing issues promptly and minimizing downtime.
+ Monitor and improve helpdesk performance, ensuring high levels of user satisfaction.
**Software Development Management:**
+ Oversee software development projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
+ Encourage innovation and adoption of best practices in software development.
**Financial Oversight:**
+ Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring the efficient use of resources, including forecasting and financial planning.
+ Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize IT expenditure.
+ Monitor and report on IT financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to the CFO.
+ Oversee the procurement and management of IT assets, including hardware, software, and services.
+ Evaluate and negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers.
**Compliance and Risk Management:**
+ Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies.
+ Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to protect the organization's IT assets.
+ Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
**Team Leadership and Development:**
+ Lead, mentor, coach, and develop the IT team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
+ Recruit, retain, and develop IT talent to ensure the department’s success.
+ Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
+ Promote professional growth and ensure the team stays current with emerging technologies and best practices.
**Vendor and Stakeholder Management:**
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for IT-related matters within the organization.
+ Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
+ Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure optimal value and performance.
+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and address their IT needs and challenges.
+ Communicate IT initiatives, progress, and challenges to stakeholders at all levels.
+ Performs all other duties as assigned.
**Education:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field; MBA preferred.
**Experience:**
+ Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
+ Proven experience in IT strategic planning, budgeting, and financial management.
+ Demonstrated success in managing IT operations, infrastructure, and service delivery.
**Skills and Competencies:**
+ Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
+ Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
+ Proficiency in IT governance, risk management, and compliance. In-depth knowledge of current and emerging technologies and industry best practices.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
+ Project management skills with a track record of delivering large-scale IT projects on time and within budget.
**Certification (Preferred):**
+ Relevant IT certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, or CISM.
