Job Summary:
The Vice President of Land Acquisition for M/I Homes is responsible for managing, overseeing and ultimately implementing the Division’s land acquisition strategy. The Vice President of Land Acquisition is charged with negotiating, managing and coordinating the acquisition of real estate for the purposes of developing residential communities and subdivisions and managing the land acquisition team. The Vice President of Land Acquisition will report to the Vice President of Land and Area President.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies, sources and acquires land for the development of residential communities in the Central Ohio region. Help craft and implement the Division’s land acquisition strategy. Actively participates in Division strategic planning process for future growth. Analyze submarkets for possible acquisitions within targeted profitability ranges and feasibility criteria established by the Division and Corporate Management. Manage the land acquisition team members. Negotiates price and contracts with sellers; provides information for preparation of contracts and closing documents and manages outside vendors (e.g., lawyers and engineers). Prepares land acquisition packages for presentation and corporate approval. Performs project underwriting and generates letters of intent (LOI’s). Manages the land entitlement process and assists in the due diligence process. Develops and maintains property contact listings through continuous research and analysis of available land; establishes and maintains builder and developer contacts for available lots. Drives the evaluation process and inspection of land under consideration. Monitors inventory of available excess lots for sale by other builders and developers. Meets with seller/engineers/planners/municipalities/other agencies as required for each property under consideration. Assists with special projects as requested and performs additional duties as required.
