Grand Living Communities are upscale, hospitality-based and resort style, each with unique and distinct design, while offering the highest levels of customer service and catering to the top end of the market. Grand Living communities' range in size from 155-345 residences offering independent, assisted living, and memory care services, and utilize technology to simplify life for both residents and team members.
Currently, there are 14 open Grand Living Communities between Florida (8), Texas (3), and Iowa (3) with one more scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2025 in Austin, TX, featuring 213 well-appointed residences and a beautiful view of the downtown skyline with a rooftop terrace.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Vice President of Operational Excellence will be a critical member of Grand Living's Management team responsible for driving organizational performance by leading and overseeing continuous improvement initiatives across the company, focused on optimizing processes, managing change, and achieving operational excellence. This highly-organized and methodical, yet creative and energetic leader will work closely with his/her peers on the Executive Leadership Team, community Executives, and other corporate resource leaders to develop a rich and thorough knowledge of the business processes and systems that equip the delivery of the Grand Living lifestyle. With the company’s vision for being trusted leaders and innovators in senior living environments, the Vice President of Operational Excellence will be the leader entrusted to drive innovation and effectiveness across all program lines, streamlining workflows and communication to both foster and further elevate the culture of excellence our high-touch hospitality company aspires to. The Vice President of Operational Excellence will serve as a leader among her/his peers as the designated project manager on all impactful and wide-reaching initiatives utilizing internationally recognized techniques, tools, and framework for process improvement and project management.
Note: Although Grand Living Management's headquarters is in Minneapolis, MN this role should expect to travel up to 25% of the time, and thus, may reside in any area that: a) is within 30 minutes of driving distance to one of Grand Living’s communities and b) provides convenient access to a national airport.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall, the VP of Operational Excellence’s key responsibilities will be focused on the following:
Identifying opportunities for improvement by analyzing current processes to pinpoint areas for optimization, including efficiency gains and quality enhancements. Developing improvement strategies by designing and implementing process improvement plans using trusted methodologies like DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). Leading cross-functional teams by assembling and managing teams from different departments to execute projects. Managing change by careful planning and orchestration of new processes, ensuring a smooth transition throughout the organization with a high level of adoption and team member-efficacy. Delivering meaningful metrics and reporting by establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress and measure the impact of operational excellence and other strategic initiatives. Training and coaching team members at all levels of the company and providing education on process improvement methodologies, enabling them to better utilize these techniques in their roles. Maintaining strategic alignment by ensuring operational excellence and other assigned strategic initiatives are aligned with the overall business goals, objectives and priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be “on fire” for hospitality with a genuine love and passion for seniors. Minimum of 10 years of experience with demonstrated leadership in project management, change management, and inspiring others to greater levels of success Entrepreneurial business perspective. Well-developed oral and written communication skills. Ability to articulate and persuade. An open personal style with qualities of honesty, integrity and high ethical standards. Creative and innovative critical thinking skills. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree a plus. Nationally-recognized Process Improvement Certification (Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Six, CBPP, etc.) Nationally-recognized Project Management Certification (PMP, CAPM, Project+, ITIL 4, etc.) Experience in development and new building pre-opening start-up a plus.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Vice President of Operational Excellence will report directly to the President and partner closely with Grand Living’s Executive Leadership Team.
