Position Summary: The Vice President of Safety & Security is a key leader responsible for the comprehensive safety and security of the healthcare system, including all facilities, staff, patients, and visitors. The Vice President will develop, implement, and oversee strategies, policies, and programs to ensure a safe and secure environment, aligning with the healthcare system's mission and regulatory requirements. Key Accountabilities: * Develop and lead the overall safety and security strategy for the healthcare system providing the strategic direction and oversight for all security operations, including physical security, emergency preparedness, and crisis management * Lead a team of Safety and Security professionals across the healthcare system ensuring appropriate levels of skills and service are in place; teach, coach and mentor to continually develop the team * Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate safety and security into the organization's strategic planning * Conduct risk assessments and develop protocols to mitigate potential threats to executives * Identify and assess security risks and vulnerabilities within the healthcare system, developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies * Monitor and analyze security trends and incidents to inform policy and procedure updates * Oversee the daily operations of the security department, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation. Implement and maintain security technologies and systems * Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards * Responsible for the development and maintenance of comprehensive emergency preparedness plans. * Lead the response to security incidents and emergencies, ensuring effective communication and coordination. Ensure organizational readiness through regular drills and training for staff on emergency procedures * Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related area is required * Ten plus years of experience in security management * Five plus years of progressive leadership * Certified Protection Professional (CPP) is required * FBI, CIA or Secret Service experience is required * Experience in executive protection and healthcare security is highly desirable * Strong knowledge of security technologies and systems * Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities * Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, grow engagement, manage multiple and diverse relationships, and influence both internal and external organizations, leaders, and colleagues * Ability to partner with leaders to identify opportunity areas, lead improvement projects and ensure the implementation of standard work is completed across the organization * Able to prioritize work by making informed judgments and to develop solutions for complex problems * Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare and present material, documents and instill confidence in the content that is being provided to Executive Leaders, other leaders and colleagues * Independently analyze, manage change in a fast-paced environment and solve a variety of difficult situations, problem events, and emergencies We take great care of careers.
