The Vice President of Student Development demonstrates values-based and mission-driven leadership within the College creating a collegial and inclusive work environment for all students, faculty, and staff. The Vice President of Student Development is a visible community partner building strategic partnerships and relationships that advance the mission, vision and priorities of the College. The Vice President of Student Development is a strategic thought leader for the organization, reporting directly to the President, and serving on the College Leadership Team. The Vice President of Student Development is an equity-minded, visionary leader committed to advancing student access and success outcomes for CLC’s diverse student body through full-scale programming and implementation of the Lancer Success Framework across all College of Lake County locations. The Vice President also ensures compliance, accountability, monitoring and evaluation of programming within the Student Development unit in accordance with federal and state requirements, as well as College policies. The desired employment date for the selected candidate is by March, 2025. Required Qualification(s) 1. An earned doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a field associated with higher education leadership. 2. A minimum of ten years of successful student-centered post-secondary senior or executive leadership of student development including compliance, enrollment, academic support and co-curricular engagement with ongoing professional development. 3. Proven record of full-scale implementation of equitable data-informed evidence-based practices that address institutional performance gaps to advance student access, retention and success. 4. Demonstrated commitment to the open access mission of community colleges, student and community-centered holistic supports and creating economic vibrancy for underrepresented populations. 5. Expertise in culturally relevant practice to advance diversity efforts and build an inclusive environment for staff and faculty that lead to employee and community success. 6. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, professionalism and record of integrity and relational leadership. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a shared governance environment. 7. Expertise and experience in change leadership and project management of organization-wide initiatives that reflect innovation and growth mindset that empower individuals and teams to achieve an ideal culture. 8. Experience in short and long-term planning, budget development and management, policy development and compliance specific to Student Development areas (examples include Financial Aid, Title IX, National Junior College Athletic Association). The Vice President of Student Development will: 1. Implement the strategic plan using data-informed student-focused methods within the parameters of fiscal sustainability and Board policy as a collaborative partner on the College Leadership Team and within CLC’s shared governance structure. 2. Provide strategic, visionary, emotionally-intelligent and transformational leadership to the Student Development unit leading to excellence in customer service, student outcomes, operational efficiency and innovative cross-functional practices within the College. 3. Model the values of excellence, purpose, integrity, compassion, unity and inclusion as an executive leader of the College. Support student and employee success by demonstrating a commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful interactions with persons of diverse ethnic, cultural, socio-economic or educational backgrounds. 4. Implement equitable evidence-based practices through the Employee Success Framework in recruitment, evaluation, succession planning, recognition, and retention of diverse highly competent employees at all levels. Support professional growth and career progression aligned to the advancement of outcomes for students and the College through meaningful professional development. 5. Lead transparent, collaborative, consultative and inclusive budget and planning processes in partnership with the College Leadership Team aligned with the College’s strategic priorities. Manage Student Development budget. Implement and monitor unit goals through best practice project management and communication methods. 6. Apply systems-thinking design strategy and cross-functional decision-making with divisional leaders and staff in Student Development, including student affairs, enrollment services, and student academic support working in partnership and consultation with other units within the College. 7. Plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate Student Development practices and programming in accordance with college policies, Illinois Community College Board policies, Illinois Public Community College Act statutes, federal and state Law, Higher Learning Commission standards, and external agencies that certify divisions within the unit. 8. Advise and make recommendations to the President and College Leadership Team colleagues on policy, strategic and operational matters. 9. Contribute in shared governance commissions, councils and committees to ensure transparency and input on key issues. Provide active executive sponsorship for assigned groups offering guidance and support to ensure progress and adherence to governance processes. 10. Serve on external boards and committees as necessary to advance the College mission, vision and visibility in the county, state and region. Actively participate in the Illinois Community College System network of Chief Student Services Officers. 11. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the President.
