Overview Candidates may reside outside of the Brownsville area, however, this role does require travel and work in the Brownsville office 1 week per month. As the VP of Underwriting & Product for the Pronto Insurance Non-Standard Auto book of business, you will play a significant role in building the strategic roadmap for the company to grow profitably. You will focus on the success of the business in several areas including optimizing Net Revenue and Profit, UW & Product Organizational structure, Reinsurance Relationships, and Executive Leadership. This role is responsible for the MGA Underwriting & Product functions, reporting directly to the President of Pronto Insurance, where you will lead a team that consists of UW & Product Specialists. How you'll make an impact Develop and execute company underwriting & product strategy for our non-standard auto products. Partner with the VP of Actuarial and VP of Sales to set the direction of products at a profitable level. Manage the investigation of insurance risk including approval or rejection of applications for insurance up to a fixed dollar limit of risk. Set the Strategy for the creation and execution of rate books, tables, code books and other reference material to make underwriting determinations. Lead assigned staff in the resolution of underwriting problems and system defect analysis. Work directly with the respective Department of Insurance on regulatory compliance and industry standards within individual state laws and area(s) of coverage. Understand what makes a book profitable and manage the MGA book of business so that it is of high quality and can endure both hard and soft markets. MBA preferred. Preferred reinsurance pricing knowledge and reinsurance carrier relationships. This role will require travel into our Brownsville, TX office 1 week per month Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands. Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires teamwork, demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy. Prior work with the California and Texas non-standard auto marketplace preferred.
