Victim Services Outreach Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY This position provides direct services to the Muckleshoot tribal community meeting criteria for victims of crime. Responsible for working with First Responders to provide after hour coverage for victims of crime referrals in the Muckleshoot tribal community. This position is a professional position providing emergent intervention and prevention support, advocacy, safety planning and educational services to victims of crime and their families. The position works directly with victims including family violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and other crimes suffered by tribal and community members. Candidates must be familiar with victim advocacy and Social Services processes. This position provides victim intervention, emergent services, and networks with other Muckleshoot Tribal Departments, organizations and agencies to ensure that client and community needs are met. MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential job duties: + Advocating for victims of crime which includes: sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, violence from family members, and other crimes suffered by tribal and community members. + Crisis intervention and safety planning. + Court and hospital accompaniment, safety checks. + Provide information and referrals to community resources. + Assist with gathering, completing, and filing documents with the court. + Informing the Muckleshoot Community of the program services. + Maintain client confidence and protecting operations by keeping client personal, financial, and employment information confidential. + Documenting all needed information into database. + Follows policies and procedures. + Other duties as assigned. Additional Duties: + This position’s hours will be required for evenings and weekends with a set schedule as determined by management, and may change from time to time depending on program requirements; must be able to work flexible hours and have reliable attendance. + Responds to referrals, makes outreach visits for persons with existing Tribal Protection Orders, and follows up on calls where the client was not able to be reached during the regular working hours. + Answers emergency calls for victims of crime issues during and assists with safety planning. + Interface with Domestic Violence, Police, and Crisis Clinic who will be handling the calls when staff is not available. EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION Required: + Associates degree in Human or Social Services or related field (four years of experience in Human or Social Services may be considered in lieu of degree). + Must have a current & valid Washington State Driver’s License and proof of insurance. Preferred: + One year’s experience working in Domestic Violence or Crisis Intervention Services. Demonstrates and encourages a positive attitude and approach when dealing with clients and internal staff. + Cultural competency: Able to work with various ethnicities in a positive manner. Promotes an environment of honor and respect regarding cultural differences. + Confidentiality: Strong knowledge of code of ethics and privacy principles, understanding and application of HIPAA Laws and regulations. + Ability to communicate with clients in a way that validates the individuality, experience, decisions, and strengths of those who may be in victims of crime situations. + Ability to manage simultaneously multiple tasks, including phone calls, computer operations, and in person visits, and to maintain victim safety as the main priority in every situation. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Will frequently stand, walk, balance, bend, crouch, reach, twist, pull/push, and use manual dexterity. Will continuously speak, hear, and use vision. Will work indoors continuously. Will occasionally sit, lift, carry, kneel, crawl, reach, and grasp. Will occasionally work with excessive noise and be exposed to weather.
