Prime Video is seeking an experienced video systems engineer to join our Media Systems Engineering, Studios Technology team in Culver City, CA. In this role you will work in a cross functional, interdependent team supporting production and post productions partners to define, build, implement and maintain business critical infrastructure for Studios teams globally. You will be responsible for designing and supporting video systems and developing the future roadmap of these platforms.

Key job responsibilities
• Be the lead subject matter expert on advanced, high resolution video transport systems, including system development, planning and execution.
• Design, deploy, maintain, and support media systems at Amazon Studios/Prime Video facilities.
• Act as the lead technical advisor for internal teams to help speed the adoption of new technologies and practices.
• Work closely with internal customers and partners to drive technology roadmaps and invent new video solutions.
• Work with external vendors, telecoms, partners, and industry organizations to drive solutions that meet the growing needs of Amazon Studios/Prime Video.
• Collaborate with production and post production teams on next generation media transport mechanisms.

About the team
The Media Systems Engineering team focuses on building post-production environments, technology solutions, and on-premises/cloud-based infrastructure to automate, streamline, and optimize audio and video workflows throughout the entire content creation lifecycle at Amazon Studios/Prime Video.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of media, systems and/or video engineering experience in a production, post-production, broadcast, or studio.
- In-depth knowledge of video and audio transport standards (SMPTE ST2110, NDI, Dante, JPEG XS, JPEG 2000), encoding protocols (H.264, H.265) and streaming protocols (RTMP, SRT, HLS, DASH).
- Proficiency in commissioning, operating and maintaining Evertz ecosystem (SDI routers - NEXX, Magnum, VUE).
- In-depth knowledge and experience with video systems (SDI routing, multiviewers, waveform monitors, sync generators, master clocks, and IP gateways).
- Prior experience and knowledge of AWS MediaServices inclusive of Elemental MediaConnect, MediaLive, and MediaConvert.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience architecting/operating video solutions built on AWS, Evertz, Grass Valley, Blackmagic, AJA, Sony/Nevion.
- Familiarity with video editing software (AVID media composer, DaVince Resolve, Baselight Colorfront) and high quality video streaming services (Sohonet clearview Flex, Streambox, Colorfront server).
- Demonstrate ability to drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation.
- Demonstrate ability to solve abstract technical problems.
- Demonstrate ability to understand and articulate business impact of technical decisions to technical and non-technical business stakeholders.
- Prior experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
- Demonstrate ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
