Mission
We are hiring an associate scientist to join our Epilepsy Research Group, contributing directly to innovative in vivo epilepsy studies and supporting the adoption of new digital tools to advance our research.
In this role, you will support comprehensive in vivo studies in rodents, applying a variety of essential techniques, including rodent handling, compound administration via various routes (subcutaneous, intraperitoneal, intravenous, and oral), and stereotactic surgery for precise brain electrode implantation and intracerebral injections. You will also conduct clinical assessments of animal welfare and handle terminal tissue collection and brain microdissection.
A key aspect of this role is supporting the digital transformation of our research processes. You will help integrate machine learning-based software tools, such as seizure detection applications, to streamline data analysis and enhance research efficiency.
To equip you for success, we will provide comprehensive training in stereotactic surgery, digital EEG software for interpreting and analyzing EEG data (with an emphasis on automation), and essential biochemical techniques like Western blotting, PCR, and immunohistochemistry for targeted analysis.
This position offers a unique opportunity for a scientist passionate about epilepsy research and excited to harness digital and machine-learning tools to push the boundaries of neuroscience.
Profile
We are looking for a motivated and talented scientist with a deep passion for neuroscience research. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in leveraging machine learning techniques to enhance data analysis and drive research innovation.
The candidate has a Master in neuroscience, biology, biomedical sciences, pharmacy or similar and is proficient in basic in vivo research techniques, including animal handling and administration of compounds through various routes (subcutaneous, intraperitoneal, intravenous, and oral). Effective communication in both French and English is essential for collaboration within the team and written proficiency in English for clear and effective report writing.
We seek someone who is not only technically adept but also enthusiastic about engaging with digital tools and machine learning applications to support our research endeavors. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated ability to implement digital tools and machine learning-based software to improve research efficiency, possesses strong organizational skills, perseverance, and a meticulous approach to experimental procedures and data collection.
Possession of a valid European animal research certification (minimum FELASA B) is highly desirable. Additionally, experience with more advanced procedures, such as rodent stereotactic surgery, and expertise in electroencephalography (EEG) analysis will set candidates apart. Holding a doctorate is a plus.
