Job Description
Business Integrity Commission (BIC):
The New York City Business Integrity Commission currently regulates companies operating in the “trade waste” (or commercial waste) industry and the New York City’s public wholesale markets. Companies seeking to operate in one of these industries within the City of New York are required to apply to the BIC for a license or registration. Through regulation, BIC ensures the companies in these industries have the requisite business integrity to operate and ensures compliance with the laws and rules. BIC carries out its mandate to eliminate corruption and criminality, including organized crime, in these regulated industries by conducting vigorous background investigations of license and registration applicants, conducting criminal and regulatory audits and investigations, establishing standards for services by and conduct of licensed and registered business, and enforcing the rules and laws by issuing violations and denying applications for a license or registration. BIC protects New York City consumers by seeking to ensure that the businesses in these industries and markets act in an honest manner.
Position: Violations Analyst
The Business Integrity Commission is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to support the Violations Unit. Under general supervision, the successful candidate will perform a variety of administrative, regulatory, and customer service-related tasks. This role involves preparing and issuing administrative violations, maintaining records, responding to inquiries, and providing general support to the Violations Unit.
Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
