Virtual Desktop Engineering Lead

Leidos is seeking an experienced Virtual Desktop Engineering Lead to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, who will support an extensive digital modernization program critical to Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies. The Sr Desktop Virtualization Engineer will lead a team of engineers to design, implement, and deploy virtual desktop capabilities in the Azure Cloud.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide thought leadership and mentoring to team of virtual desktop engineers, including frequent collaboration with the DES Chief Engineer and other team leadsEngineering, implementing, mitigating, monitoring, and tuning the virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI) environment and management software.Preparing and maintaining documentation for VDI solutions, processes, and proceduresContinually identify opportunities for improvement, including innovations in the VDI domain aimed at improving the user experience, improving efficiencies, and lowering sustainment costsEnforce security best practices and guidelines, leveraging knowledge of security policies, network security, and data securityInitiate frequent interactions with the team of virtual desktop engineers to identify areas of improvement and facilitate their career growth, including participation in annual performance reviewsGrow solution and team to support DoD Fourth Estate with a targeted community of 400k users

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 12+ years of prior relevant experienceAbility to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearanceExpertise with virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI): Azure Virtual Desktop, VMware Horizon, Amazon Workspace or other platformsExperience managing teams of engineers, including mentoring and fostering communication and collaboration across the teamExperience developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC), utilizing continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, and leveraging automation platforms such as Ansible or Azure FunctionsUnderstanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security requirements such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMAAbility to work effectively within a distributed technical team, aided by strong written and verbal communication skillsCurrent IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security + or CISSP

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant certifications such as: Microsoft Certified Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty, VMware Certified Design Expert - End-User ComputingPossess an active DoD Secret clearancFamiliarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence

Pay Range:Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
